$1.8 trillion wiped out in a single day—this sell-off really packed a punch. The Nasdaq plunged nearly 3% in one day, and the S&P 500 couldn’t withstand a 1.8% drop either. Tech stocks have had a rough week, especially AI stocks. They surged too hard before, and now they’re giving back those gains without hesitation. Among the heavyweights, former AI rally leaders like Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom all weakened, while mega-cap tech stocks like Microsoft and Apple also came under pressure. Naturally, that dragged the indexes down fast. A $1.8 trillion loss in market value in a single day shows this isn’t just a small round of portfolio rebalancing—risk appetite has clearly cooled in the short term.

As a swing trader, I actually find declines like this reassuring. A pullback creates room to buy the dip; chasing highs is what really costs you. A sharp sell-off can look scary, but at least it shakes out some of the overheated valuations and crowded trades from earlier, creating more comfortable entry points later. With volatility rising in the options market, I imagine options sellers are feeling conflicted today: higher volatility means richer premiums, but it also increases margin pressure and drawdown risk. With a larger position, it’s easy to get caught off guard.

Before the halving, $BTC will also go through a period of sideways trading. The same goes for tech stocks in the U.S. market: after a sharp drop, they’ll most likely need time to consolidate. Historically, recoveries after sharp sell-offs rarely happen all at once. A common pattern is an initial rebound, followed by choppy trading, then waiting for trading volume to contract before confirming the move. No need to rush to a conclusion—let’s see how things unfold and wait for volume to ease before deciding.

There will still be volatility after the rebound, so don’t rush to go all in

It will only be a real bottom once trading volume contracts; for now, just watch

A shakeout in crowded tech-stock trades would be healthier

When volatility rises, sellers suffer, while buyers have room to maneuver

The bottoming-out phase tests patience the most; there's no need to rush

1.8 trillion gone in a day—this isn’t portfolio rebalancing, it’s fleeing for their lives

A sharp drop is better than a slow bleed; at least it’s over quickly.

A 3% drop in the Nasdaq is nothing; we’ve seen it get cut in half during the 2021 run

BTC trading sideways ahead of the halving is the same old script, with U.S. stocks moving in tandem
