HYPE is up 15%—is this value discovery or future expectations priced in early? The real test is only just beginning!

HYPE’s rally against the market downturn has certainly caught the eye of many investors. But we need to think calmly: is this a genuine improvement in fundamentals, or has the market already priced in several years of future expectations?
My view is that it’s both, but in the short term, the rally is driven more by regulatory tailwinds.
ICE and Trade[XYZ] are partnering, opening up an exciting window of opportunity for Hyperliquid. The willingness of a traditional finance giant to get involved shows that on-chain perpetuals are no longer just a niche experiment. Meanwhile, Hyperliquid itself has trading infrastructure, a user ecosystem, and real trading demand—these are the key foundations behind the market’s interest.
But the risks can’t be ignored.
First, regulatory approval is still pending, so there’s uncertainty around whether the project will come to fruition. Second, market sentiment can price in good news too early, and if the outcome falls short of expectations, the price could pull back. Third, competitors won’t just stand by and applaud—traditional exchanges and other on-chain platforms could enter the fray.

What’s truly worth being optimistic about is the long-term trend of on-chain finance moving into the mainstream. Prices may ride a roller coaster in the short term, but long-term value will depend on whether users, revenue, and the ecosystem can keep growing.
It’s fine to dream when investing, but your account needs discipline. After all, you can celebrate when the bull market arrives, but you still need money for food when the correction hits!
