#HYPE逆市大涨 HYPE Suddenly Surges: NYSE Parent Enters the Picture—Has Hyperliquid Been Repriced?

On October 29, 2026, HYPE had a clear catalyst for its rise: Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, announced an agreement with Hyperliquid ecosystem's Trade[XYZ] to bring a Hyperliquid-based perpetual futures market into the U.S. regulatory framework and make a strategic investment in Trade[XYZ].
The market reacted immediately.
Reports at different times that day showed HYPE rising from around $86 to around $91, with some intraday quotes reaching around $95; reports put its 24-hour gain at between around 13% and nearly 20%. These are snapshots from different times and should not be combined into a single daily gain.
The core of this rally is that the market has raised its expectations for Hyperliquid's entry into the U.S. regulated derivatives market—not that the related revenue has already materialized.

What exactly happened?
According to ICE's official announcement, the two parties signed a definitive agreement: ICE will be the exclusive operator of Trade[XYZ]'s regulated market and establish a dedicated retail market and clearing structure; ICE will also make a minority strategic equity investment in Trade[XYZ]. This means ICE is not acquiring Hyperliquid; ICE has not announced a purchase of HYPE; and HYPE has not been approved for listing on the New York Stock Exchange.
What has been confirmed is a partnership focused on market development and operations, not a direct investment commitment in the HYPE token.

Why did this news move HYPE so significantly?
1. The market sees a more concrete U.S. compliance pathICE's announcement explicitly said the parties plan to seek regulatory approval to establish a U.S. perpetual futures market that meets customer identification and anti-money laundering requirements, including the approvals needed to support leveraged trading.
For the market, the difference is that Hyperliquid is no longer just an abstract story about “possibly engaging with traditional finance in the future”; there is now a specific partner, a market structure, and a plan to apply for regulatory approval. But an important caveat remains: the agreement has been signed, while regulatory approval is still pending. Signing an agreement is not approval, nor does it mean the market is live.
2. The range of tradable assets appears broader
The proposed market is aimed at retail traders and would offer around-the-clock exposure to assets including crypto, stocks, commodities, and foreign exchange. Note that these are primarily perpetual derivatives that reference the prices of the relevant assets; they do not mean investors directly own stocks or physical commodities.
The market may therefore raise its expectations for Hyperliquid's long-term business potential: it could compete not only in crypto perpetual futures trading but also in derivatives trading for a broader range of traditional assets. This is a reasonable scenario, but the additional users, trading volume, and revenue have not yet materialized.
3. Traditional finance backing amplified market attention
On the same day, investor Stanley Druckenmiller disclosed an investment in Trade[XYZ], further drawing attention to the event. Hyperliquid Strategies (NASDAQ: PURR), a U.S.-listed company holding HYPE-related assets, also rose significantly, showing that sentiment spread beyond the token market. Still, investing in Trade[XYZ] is not the same as investing in HYPE on the same terms. Company equity and a public blockchain token are different assets.

Was leverage amplifying the rally?
There are signs of that, but the entire gain cannot be attributed to a “short squeeze.”
Market reports that day showed HYPE's trading volume was about twice its average over the past 30 days, with open interest rising alongside the price and the cost of holding long positions also increasing. This suggests the rally involved not only a repricing of existing positions but also attracted new leveraged trading. However, without spot net buying, open interest, and liquidation data measured over consistent time windows, it is impossible to accurately break down how much came from long-term buying, short-term chasing, or short covering.
A more measured conclusion, then, is that the partnership announcement was the main catalyst, while leverage and sentiment may have amplified the volatility; this is not enough to conclude that “institutions are continuously buying HYPE on a large scale.”

What does this mean for HYPE's long-term value?
The most important point is that business benefits do not automatically translate into proportional token value. For this news to turn from expectations into sustained support, it would need to go through at least the following chain: regulatory approval → market launch → sustained trading → attributable economic revenue → value transmitted to HYPE through a clear mechanism. ICE's announcement confirmed the direction of the partnership but made no commitment regarding specific HYPE purchases, buyback amounts, or revenue distribution to token holders.
So it would be wrong to conclude, “ICE is entering the picture, so HYPE buybacks will inevitably surge.” It is also necessary to verify which on-chain processes the new business will use, how fees will be allocated, and how much economic value can remain within Hyperliquid and its token ecosystem.
A more accurate assessment is that this news increases the possibility of business expansion, but does not prove that value will accrue to the token.

The impact also brings new constraints
For Hyperliquid: greater opportunity for compliant distribution, but not a blanket “compliance pass”If approved, the new market is expected to be made available to identity-verified customers through channels such as eligible futures commission merchants. This is not permission for U.S. users to access all existing on-chain markets without restriction.
For traditional finance: a potential new retail business, not a replacement for the existing futures systemICE explicitly said this retail business would operate separately from its existing institutional futures and clearing businesses.
Therefore, “Wall Street is moving wholesale to Hyperliquid” is an overstatement. A more accurate description is that ICE is exploring an additional business line targeting retail demand for around-the-clock trading.
For investors: future milestones may matter more than the announcementThe initial announcement can quickly drive up expectations; afterward, the market will need approvals, products, and operating data for validation. If progress is slower than expected, valuations could retreat even if the long-term direction has not changed. This is a risk scenario, not a definite prediction of a price decline.

What should be watched next?
More useful than guessing short-term price targets is tracking four verifiable indicators:
Regulatory progress: Which approvals have been applied for, which have been granted, and what conditions are attached?
Product launch: When will it officially launch, which assets will it cover, and who will be able to use it?
Real demand: Will trading volume, consistently active users, and liquidity develop, rather than just launch-day buzz?
Value transmission: Are fee allocation and token linkage mechanisms transparent, and can they be observed in actual data?
At the same time, analyses of price action should use consistent exchanges, time zones, and measurement windows. A 20% intraday gain does not mean a 20% gain at the daily close; a 24-hour gain is also not the same as the calendar-day gain in Beijing time.

Conclusion
HYPE's rise on October 29 was not without an event to support it: the agreement between ICE and Trade[XYZ] gives Hyperliquid a more concrete path to expanding into the U.S. regulated market. But what has happened so far is the signing of an agreement and a strategic investment; regulatory approval, the launch of the business, and its economic contribution to HYPE remain to be verified.
Whether this rally is sustainable will ultimately depend on whether the market vision turns into actual operating results—not just on the words “NYSE parent.”#Gate广场万圣节 $HYPE
