Is BTC’s choppy market about to end? On the eve of the Fed decision, bulls and bears are both waiting for the other to blink!

If Bitcoin’s recent price action has been wearing you down, you’re not alone. When it rises, you’re afraid of chasing the top; when it falls, you’re afraid to cut losses; and when it moves sideways, you start wondering whether you bought a digital savings account.
The Fed decision in the early hours of October 29 Beijing time could become an important turning point for market repricing.
But here’s the conclusion first: a catalyst doesn’t mean there will definitely be a big move; and even if there is a big move, it doesn’t mean the direction will necessarily be up.
If the Fed sends hawkish signals, pressure from a stronger dollar and higher Treasury yields could spill over into risk assets, and BTC may face short-term selling pressure. If its policy stance is milder than expected and risk appetite recovers, that could create an opportunity for a rebound in the crypto market.
There’s another often-overlooked scenario: good news comes out, but prices don’t rise; bad news lands, but the market rebounds instead. There’s nothing mysterious about this, because markets trade on the gap between expectations and reality, not on a simple judgment of whether news is good or bad.
So I’d suggest watching three signals: whether BTC can decisively break out of its trading range, whether trading volume expands in tandem, and whether it can hold key price levels after the breakout.
If the price just spikes up and down when the news comes out, then returns to its previous range, it may just be the market putting on a “midnight heartbeat challenge.”
My view is that this decision deserves attention, but not a blind bet on direction. Watching the policy signals first, then waiting for price confirmation, is more reliable than chasing rallies or selling off based on gut feeling.
The crypto market never lacks stories; what it lacks is patience. A true trading pro isn’t someone who gets it right every time, but someone who doesn’t let their account pay tuition when they get it wrong.
