#黄金重返4000美元上方 There is a chance $4,000 will hold, but the market is more likely to see repeated tug-of-war than a sustained move in one direction.
Gold has now rebounded to around $4,050–$4,060, well above its intraday low, strengthening near-term support.
Why $4,000 remains unstable
· The market expects the Fed to hold steady this time, but expectations of a rate hike in December remain elevated, and Treasury yields and the dollar will continue to weigh on gold.
· The pullback in oil prices eased inflation concerns and fueled this rebound; however, Middle East supply risks remain, and a renewed rise in oil prices could push gold down again.
· $4,000 is an important psychological level. If it breaks and cannot be quickly reclaimed, technical selling could push prices toward $3,975–$3,960.
Two catalysts are needed next
First, the Fed must signal a dovish tilt.
If Powell downplays expectations of a December rate hike, the dollar and Treasury yields are likely to fall, making it easier for gold to consolidate above $4,000.
Second, U.S. inflation data must confirm cooling.
A weaker September PCE reading or softer economic data would ease the pressure of real interest rates on gold. If inflation remains sticky and policy stays hawkish, gold could retest $4,000.
Key levels to watch
· Holding $4,050–$4,060 would show that buyers are stepping in effectively;
· A move back above $4,100 would be needed to open the way for a further rebound;
· A renewed break below $4,000 would raise the risk of a decline toward $3,975–$3,960.
So, whether $4,000 holds hinges on whether the Fed softens its December rate hike expectations and whether subsequent inflation data cooperate. For now, the market looks more like it is “trading in a range above $4,000” than forming a clear uptrend. #Gate广场万圣节
