When they see Gate launch 7×23 gold CFD trading, some people might think: Longer trading hours mean more opportunities to make money, right?
It sounds reasonable, like a gym extending its hours—surely everyone can get abs. But in reality, a gym can be open 24 hours a day, and abs won't appear automatically.
Trading works the same way.
Longer trading hours may give users more flexibility to follow market movements according to their schedules. However, more trading hours don't mean market conditions will necessarily be better, nor do they mean liquidity, spreads, and execution conditions will be the same at every hour.
Gold CFDs in particular are contracts for difference. Users typically profit or lose based on price movements; this is not the same as buying physical gold. If leverage is used, even small market fluctuations can have a significant impact on an account.
So what really deserves attention is not “how long can you trade each day?” but “under what conditions is it worth trading?”
For example, do you understand the margin requirements before trading? Do you know the liquidation rules? When markets move quickly, could the execution price differ from what you expected? And what are the trading costs? These questions matter far more than simply pursuing more trades.
In my view, the key thing to watch about Gate's launch of 7×23 gold CFD trading is the change in trading hours and asset selection. But for ordinary users, a product upgrade doesn't mean an upgrade in investment skills.
Here's the irony of the market: you think you're seizing every opportunity, while the market may be seizing on every one of your impulses.
Remember: trading can be more flexible, but risk management shouldn't become more casual.$XAUUSD
