If Anthropic really lists on Nasdaq as $ANT , the market is likely to face a collective exam on the future value of AI. The questions seem simple: How fast is growth? How much profit is there? How strong is commercialization? The tricky part is that the answers to these three questions may not align.
Suppose Anthropic grows rapidly. Investors will ask: How many years can this pace be sustained? If profits are lackluster for now, the market will ask: When will R&D investment start to pay off? Even as enterprise customers continue to grow in number, the company still has to prove that they are willing to renew their subscriptions long term, rather than try the product once and walk away.
Valuation is even more nuanced. A great company is not necessarily a great investment at every price. If the market has already priced in years of future growth, then even if the company performs well, its stock could still come under pressure if it falls short of investors’ lofty expectations. Capital markets can be very realistic sometimes: You score 90, but everyone expected 95, so the applause turns into question marks. #Anthropic申请赴美IPO #每周来晒
Of course, the AI industry still has enormous room to grow. Better model capabilities, the restructuring of enterprise workflows, and agent applications could all create new revenue opportunities. But opportunity does not equal profit, and industry excitement does not mean every company’s shareholders will make money.
In my view, the thing most worth watching after Anthropic goes public is not whether it can command a jaw-dropping debut valuation, but whether its operating results can continue to meet market expectations.
An IPO is a spotlight, not a get-out-of-jail-free card. A truly great AI company must not only prove it can change the world, $TSLA
