Seeing ARM surge, many investors’ first reaction is: Is the AI chip rally about to erupt across the board again? Should we be adding Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom too?
Let’s hold off on counting our chickens. While companies across the AI chip supply chain are closely connected, their business models, valuations, and customer demand differ. ARM mainly makes money through chip architecture licensing and royalties, while other chip companies may be more directly affected by product sales, data center orders, and supply chain changes.
So, ARM’s rise can improve market sentiment toward the semiconductor sector, but it doesn’t automatically mean all AI stocks will rise.
What really matters next is whether the rebound spreads from a handful of popular stocks to more companies, and whether major cloud service providers continue investing in AI infrastructure. If capital spending remains strong while earnings expectations for related companies improve, the rally will have fundamental support.
On the other hand, if valuations are already high and interest rates keep weighing on growth stocks, even the best AI story could be met with a cold shoulder from the market.
My view: AI is an industry trend, not a crash-proof shield for every stock. Picking the right sector is only the first step; the price you pay matters just as much. $ARM
