$SKHYNIX SK Hynix’s earnings report isn’t out yet, but the stock is already up 6%—and there’s one signal I can’t ignore!

SK Hynix has climbed to around 1034, just one step away from its previous high of 1044.92. In theory, earnings expectations and buyback rumors should have market sentiment running high.

But I’m more focused on another set of data: over the past 15 days, large funds have seen net outflows of about 180 million, while whale longs have an average entry price around 1038. In other words, the stock has surged, but at the current price, these longs are still underwater overall.

That doesn’t mean it’s about to fall, but it does point to one thing: the price is surging, while whether funds are following suit remains to be seen.

Tonight, what really matters isn’t whether the stock rises or falls on a single candle after the earnings report comes out, but how the market responds to the news.

A high-volume breakout above 1044.92, along with a return of fund inflows, would make the rebound more convincing; if it fails to hold its gains and breaks below key support, expectations fueled by the buyback and earnings report could quickly cool.

I’m not chasing it for now. Betting on a direction before earnings means profiting from expectations while taking on the risk of surprises.

For this SK Hynix move, what matters more to you: earnings expectations, or whether funds are actually flowing back in?

Taking a directional bet ahead of earnings is pure speculation. I’ll sit back and watch, then see how the funds are leaning once things become clearer tonight

The whale's average price is 1,038, and at 1,034 they're still underwater. Chasing in at this level just provides exit liquidity for institutions

Without capital inflows, it’s shaky. There’s no rush to enter before increased volume confirms the move.
