Anxious when BTC rises, anxious when it falls! WCTC S9 kicks off: 3 mistakes retail traders are most likely to make

There’s a curious creature in crypto: when BTC rises 3%, it thinks it’s the Wolf of Wall Street; when BTC falls 3%, it immediately starts figuring out how to move back home and farm.
Now BTC is fluctuating around $80k, and WCTC S9 is adding fuel to the fire. The market hasn’t picked a direction, but emotions have already reached the finish line.
These are the three traps that are easiest to fall into at times like this.
First trap: chasing every rise.
As soon as the price surges, the community is full of “it’s taking off” and “last chance to get in.” But without support from trading volume and spot market inflows, chasing the move could mean catching a hot potato someone else is passing along. To confirm a breakout, look at whether the price can hold, not just at the bullish candle that gets your blood pumping.
Second trap: panic-selling every dip.
A price drop should certainly be taken seriously, but not every pullback means the trend is over. What matters is whether the price breaks below support in your original trading thesis, whether market funds continue to flow out, and whether your risk limits have been reached.
Third trap: adding more as losses mount, just to break even.
This is the most dangerous move. After taking a loss, increasing leverage and expanding your position just to prove you were right often ends with the account waving the white flag before the market admits defeat.
My approach is to break trading into three steps: write a plan first, set a risk limit next, and only then execute. Without a clear reason to enter, I don’t force a trade just to join the excitement; if my original thesis no longer holds, I follow my rules instead of trying to save face against the market.
Whether you hold BTC or temporarily hold cash, neither should become an identity. What really matters is whether you can live with your choices.
WCTC S9 is about trading ability, not how often you refresh your account. #WCTCS9
What habit do you think is hardest for retail traders to break: chasing rallies, buying the dip, or trying to win it all back in one go after a loss? See you in the comments.
