8.92 Billion Transactions Aren’t All a “Human Frenzy”! Here’s the Truth About Solana That’s Easiest to Overlook

Seeing Solana complete 8.92 billion non-vote transactions in a quarter, many people might immediately picture countless users opening their wallets at the same time, frantically transferring funds, trading, and using apps, with the entire ecosystem buzzing like a Spring Festival fair.
But the world of blockchain data isn’t that simple.
In the third quarter of 2026, Solana recorded 8.92 billion non-vote transactions, up 104% from the fourth quarter of 2025.
Notably, “non-vote transactions” mainly exclude votes validators cast to reach network consensus, but that doesn’t mean every operation was carried out by a real person.
Automated trading bots, arbitrage programs, and other automated strategies can also leave a large number of records on-chain. One user can trigger multiple transactions, and a program can execute many operations in a short time.
So what does 8.92 billion transactions actually mean? At the very least, it shows that Solana supports a high volume of on-chain activity. But to determine whether the ecosystem is truly healthy, we also need to look at unique active users, transaction success rates, app retention, fee revenue, and real economic activity.
It’s like a restaurant handling 10,000 orders a day: business might be booming, or there might be a large number of duplicate orders. Looking only at the number of orders doesn’t tell you how many customers actually came in, let alone how much money the owner made.
To understand blockchain, you can’t just count transactions—you also have to look at the demand behind them.
Which metric do you think matters most when evaluating a public blockchain’s strength: transaction count, real users, or ecosystem revenue?
