Many people still picture the crypto world as staring at charts in the middle of the night, watching red and green candles jump around, with one big bullish candle instantly waking you up and one big bearish candle making you question your life choices.
But Gate’s Idle Funds product surpassing $300 million in assets offers at least one angle worth discussing: crypto users may care not only about how to trade, but also about how to manage funds they don’t need for the time being.
After all, leaving money idle feels wasteful, but putting it into trades carries the risk that the market will suddenly teach you a lesson. Plenty of investors know that dilemma.
Idle-fund management products are typically appealing because of their convenience, users’ need to move funds around, and their expectations of potential returns. However, determining whether the growth in product size comes from new users, existing funds moving over, or changes in market conditions requires more data.
Here’s an important point: “idle funds” does not mean risk-free. Before using a product, it’s worth carefully checking its sources of returns, redemption rules, asset security mechanisms, and related fees. Expectations of high returns should never replace risk assessment.
From an industry perspective, whoever can clearly explain product rules and provide a good user experience will have a better chance of earning users’ long-term attention.
After all, truly mature investors don’t want to charge ahead every day. They know when to act and when to manage their money.
