Tesla’s Roadster reveal did two things at once: it put a real product timeline on the table, and it created a short-lived meme-coin event that most people chasing the pump missed.
Tesla unveiled the next-gen Roadster on October 15, 2026, at a SpaceX facility in Texas. The car uses cold-gas thrusters developed with SpaceX, and Tesla says production will not start until 2028. That single detail matters more than the aerial tricks in the demo: the market is trading a future product, not current deliveries.
Monday, October 19, was supposed to be the first real test of whether the hype could turn into buying. It didn’t. TSLA rose about 1% in overnight trading, but by the evening (Beijing time) it had reversed to roughly $353.45, down 0.36%. The session range was wide - $349.33 to $376.60 and the stock is still below its 50-day and 200-day moving averages. The Roadster generated attention, but not sustained demand.
$SPCX followed a similar path. It traded between $146.80 and $150.76 on October 19, but remains down more than 10% for the week. The upcoming SpaceX earnings on October 20 is now a bigger near-term factor than the Roadster headline.
$FTR is no longer the same story. The meme coin that briefly ran to a $5.86 million market cap and then fell about 53% has already played out. On Gate.io, the FTR ticker (Fautor) is now trading around $0.001141 with daily volume of only about $15–16 thousand — a completely different liquidity profile from the post-Roadster spike. The speculative phase of that trade is over.
Will Roadster hype keep growing? Not on its own. The production date is 2028, the factory location is still unconfirmed, and Tesla reports Q3 earnings on October 21 — a catalyst that has historically moved the stock more than a concept-car demo. Hype can return around specific milestones, but the Roadster narrative alone is unlikely to sustain a multi-week rally without new information.
Will $FTR, $TSLA, and $SPCX rally or pull back? Each one is in a different position. $FTR has already corrected hard and is now a low-liquidity asset, so any bounce would be speculative rather than structural. $TSLA is testing support near $350 and remains below its key moving averages, with earnings on October 21 as the next real directional trigger. $SPCX reports on October 20 and has already given back a large portion of its recent gains, so near-term direction depends more on results than on Roadster headlines.
