#BTC跌破8.2万 CPI Beats Expectations, BTC Plunges 3,100 Points! Strive Buys $235 Million Worth of BTC on the Dip—Oversold Rebound or Downtrend?

Last night’s CPI beat expectations across the board, sending BTC directly from 8339 to 80226, down 3,100 points in a single day; it has now rebounded to around 81100. ETH performed even worse, falling 7.7% to 2313. Gold instead rose against the trend, becoming the only safe-haven asset. As the bearish news landed, Strive bought 2822 BTC for $235 million, bringing its total holdings to 35595 BTC, showing institutions aggressively accumulating during the crash.
An upside CPI surprise is a trend-level bearish factor, with the high-interest-rate environment continuing to suppress valuations; however, after the short-term plunge, multiple timeframes are extremely oversold, creating a need for a technical rebound. The strategy is mainly to trade the oversold rebound, but the rebound is an opportunity to reduce positions, not a reversal; go long lightly after a stable pullback, and reduce positions or short lightly when the rebound reaches resistance.

CPI Beats Expectations Across the Board, a Trend-Level Bearish Factor; Institutional Buying the Dip Provides Short-Term Support
Today’s market is a battle between “trend-level bearish news + short-term dip-buying support.” Let’s break it down:
CPI beat expectations across the board, making the broader trend more bearish. September CPI rose 3.7% year on year, hitting its highest level since May, while core CPI rose 2.6% year on year, also above expectations. The key is not the numbers themselves, but that price increases have spread from energy to core goods, housing, and services, broadening across the board. This is no longer “temporary inflation driven by rising oil prices”; it is broad-based inflation, leaving the Federal Reserve no reason to ease. The “new Fed wire service” directly said this “at least strengthens the case for a December rate hike,” while the probability of a rate hike in October briefly surged to 50%. The U.S. Dollar Index hit a new high since April last year, U.S. stocks fell for three straight sessions, and risk assets came under broad pressure. This is a trend-level bearish factor, not short-term noise; the high-interest-rate environment will persist for a long time.

But institutions are buying the dip during the crash, providing support around 80000. As CPI triggered the sell-off, Strive’s CEO announced the purchase of 2822 BTC for $235 million, bringing total holdings to 35595 BTC. This was not a token move, but real money absorbing sell pressure in the 80000-83000 range. Evernorth also invested $648 million in XRP, forming alliances with exchanges and market makers. What does this indicate? It indicates that top institutions believe current prices offer allocation value, and that the area around 80000 is a strong support zone.
The broader trend is still bearish, as the CPI upside surprise has extended the rate-hike cycle again; however, the short-term decline was too sharp, multiple timeframes are extremely oversold, and institutional dip-buying is providing support, creating room for a technical rebound. But the rebound is an opportunity to reduce positions, not a reversal. Don’t call the bottom just because you see institutions buying the dip—institutions can withstand a 30% unrealized loss; you cannot.

Trade the Rebound After a Stable Pullback; Reduce Positions When the Rebound Meets Resistance
BTC 81104|Go long on a pullback to 80500-80200; reduce positions at 81500-82000 on a rebound
The 1-hour and 4-hour KDJ indicators are both extremely oversold, with excessive downside momentum released and strong rebound demand. However, the 15-minute timeframe is overbought, so another pullback may follow the short-term rebound. Key support is at 80500-80200, and key resistance is at 81500-82000.
Go long lightly after support holds on a pullback, and reduce positions or short lightly when the rebound reaches resistance. Do not chase shorts below 80200, as chasing shorts in oversold territory can easily result in being swept out by a rebound; nor should you chase longs when the rebound reaches 8200, as the broader trend is bearish and chasing highs can easily leave you trapped. If the price breaks below the 80000 round-number level, it indicates that the trend-level decline is continuing, and you should stop out promptly. #WCTCS9
