#Solana大升级定档 This upgrade has most likely already been priced in, and the formal activation on October 21 is more likely to trigger a “sell-the-fact” market reaction than serve as a new catalyst that ignites the ecosystem.

What exactly is changing in this upgrade
Alpenglow is reworking Solana’s consensus layer: replacing the existing TowerBFT with Votor, with the goal of reducing transaction finality time from approximately 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds. Validator voting is also being moved off-chain, freeing up a large amount of block space previously occupied by votes[5]. For users, wallets and transaction methods will remain largely unchanged; the main beneficiaries will be scenarios such as exchange deposits, payment confirmations, and cross-chain bridge fund releases.

Why the positive news is considered already priced in
The market has been tracking this for a long time, from testnet deployment and client preparation to the mainnet activation date. In late September, SOL rose nearly 30% on expectations of the upgrade, ETF inflows, and stablecoin growth. Moreover, this is only the first phase. The Rotor block propagation protocol is still scheduled for later, and its activation time has not yet been determined.
In other words, October 21 will deliver “faster confirmation,” not the complete upgrade package.

Will the ecosystem take off again
In the short term, it will be difficult to immediately ignite a new wave of application activity. TPS, fees, and the way programs operate have not been rewritten, so the changes to ordinary users’ experience will be limited. The real value will only become apparent after exchanges, payment applications, and DeFi projects test it in practice.
Whether it can generate sustained momentum in the medium term depends on three things:
· Whether the mainnet activation proceeds smoothly, without validator or infrastructure failures;
· Whether real transaction volume, active addresses, and on-chain fees grow;
· Whether ETF inflows, stablecoin supply, and overall crypto market sentiment continue to provide support.
Therefore, the more reasonable assessment is that the upgrade itself is broadly positive, but its impact may already have been largely priced in. A smooth rollout could lead to a short-term spike, followed by a phase of “watching actual usage data”; any delay or mainnet instability could easily trigger a pullback as expectations unwind.#WCTCS9
