GATE WCTC S9: TEAMWORK, SOLO TRADING, AND UP TO 6,000,000 USDT IN POTENTIAL REWARDS

Gate’s World Crypto Trading Competition Season 9 (WCTC S9) is bringing traders together for a global competition where strategy, consistency, and risk management matter. Whether you prefer competing independently, building a strong team, or participating in both categories, this season offers multiple ways to pursue potential rewards.

The official competition runs from October 26 to November 25, 2026 (UTC). Registration opened on October 9 and closes on October 26 at 08:00 UTC. The advertised prize pool can reach 6,000,000 USDT, depending on participation and the amount unlocked under the official rules.

1. Team vs. Individual: Which Path Is Better?

The team competition offers a maximum advertised prize pool of 3,200,000 USDT. Each team requires at least five members: one captain and four additional traders. Rankings consider platform-wide trading volume, CFD volume, and profit, creating multiple opportunities for eligible teams.

The individual competition has a maximum advertised pool of 400,000 USDT. There is no team requirement, and participants compete according to their cumulative qualifying weighted trading volume. Reaching at least 20,000 USDT in weighted volume is necessary for the main individual leaderboard, but it does not guarantee a prize.

Eligible traders can participate in both competitions simultaneously, making this an interesting opportunity for those who already have a reliable team.

2. Important Dates and Team Leaderboards

The team competition is divided into two independently assessed periods:

- First half: October 26–November 10, receiving 45% of the team prize pool.
- Second half: November 10–25, receiving 55% of the team prize pool.

Each half includes three leaderboards. Platform-wide trading volume receives 60% of that half’s pool, CFD trading volume receives 20%, and the profit leaderboard receives the remaining 20%.

Qualification thresholds matter. The platform-wide leaderboard requires at least one team member to reach 20,000 USDT in qualifying weighted volume. The CFD leaderboard requires at least one member to achieve 50,000 USDT in valid CFD volume. The profit leaderboard requires at least one member to reach 20,000 USDT in qualifying volume and maintain valid profit of zero or higher.

Teams must also maintain the required membership. Once a team reaches five members, the event rules state that members cannot leave and the team cannot be disbanded.

3. How Are Team Rewards Distributed?

For each qualifying leaderboard reward, the captain receives 20%. The top 10 qualifying contributors other than the captain share 40% equally, while other qualifying members share the remaining 40%, subject to the official allocation rules.

Team ranking alone does not guarantee individual rewards. Members must satisfy the applicable personal eligibility requirements for each leaderboard and competition period.

There is also a special incentive: the captain of the team ranked first on the platform-wide trading leaderboard across both halves can receive a physical gold medal valued at 30,000 USDT. This is a medal, not a cash payment.

4. Individual Rewards and Trading-Volume Multipliers

The individual prize structure rewards different ranking levels. First place receives 15% of the unlocked individual pool, second place 10%, and third place 7%. Ranks 4–10 share 20%, ranks 11–50 share 18%, and ranks 51–300 share 30% proportionally to qualifying weighted volume.

Ranks 301–400, 401–600, and 601–700 can receive futures position trial vouchers worth 150, 100, and 50 USDT respectively. Ranks 701–1,000 share a separate 20,000 USDT voucher allocation, proportionally to qualifying volume and capped at 50 USDT per person. These vouchers are subject to restrictions and are not necessarily withdrawable cash.

The competition uses different volume multipliers:

- Stocks and Event Contracts: 200%
- Spot, ETFs, and Convert: 150%
- Futures: 100%
- Options: 50%
- TradFi CFDs: 5%

For example, 10,000 USDT of eligible stock trading volume generates 20,000 USDT in weighted volume. Actual eligibility depends on the official product and trading rules.

5. My Strategy for WCTC S9

My approach would be to register early, understand the qualifying products, and set realistic targets before trading. If you have four dependable teammates, a coordinated team can create additional opportunities across several leaderboards. Otherwise, the individual competition offers a simpler route based on your own performance.

If you already have a strong team, consider participating in both categories without increasing your risk unnecessarily. Track qualifying volume, trading costs, realized profit or loss, and leaderboard progress throughout both competition periods.

6. Eligibility, Rules, and Risk Management

Participants must use an eligible main Gate account, register successfully, and complete the required identity verification. API users, VIP 15 and above, market makers, corporate and institutional accounts, and subaccounts are excluded under the stated rules. Wash trading, self-trading, market manipulation, and other invalid activity can lead to disqualification.

Only qualifying trades made after registration and during the official competition period count. Rewards are generally distributed within 15 business days after the event ends and the review is completed, subject to the official terms and regional restrictions.

My Final View

WCTC S9 offers opportunities for individual traders and coordinated teams, but the maximum 6,000,000 USDT headline should not be mistaken for guaranteed earnings. Higher volume does not automatically mean higher profit, and leverage can magnify losses.

The smartest approach is to understand the rules, trade with discipline, and pursue rewards without sacrificing capital protection. Success should be measured not only by leaderboard position but also by the quality of your decisions.
