#微策略两周回购3.69亿美元STRC Saylor's Calculus: Spending $369 million on Preferred Stock Buybacks Isn't for BTC—It's to "Keep the Financing Machine Alive"

Over the past two weeks (9/28-10/11), Strategy repurchased approximately $369 million of STRC preferred stock ($176.3 million + $192.4 million), while buying only about 584 BTC ($50.2 million) during the same period—the buyback was approximately 7 times the size of the coin purchases, pushing STRC's price close to its $100 face value.
Don't misunderstand: this doesn't mean Saylor no longer loves BTC (he still holds 848,000 BTC and continues to buy every week)—this is "capital structure optimization": buying back preferred stock with a $100 face value and dividends as high as 12% at prices above $90—supporting the price while cutting the most expensive financing costs. Killing two birds with one stone, Saylor is "managing money," not "changing his mind."

I. Why the Aggressive Buybacks: Three "Smart Calculations"

① Price defense: Preserve the "cash machine for buying coins." STRC is Strategy's "digital credit" financing tool (issue preferred stock → raise money to buy BTC)—if it falls below its $100 face value, the credibility of the financing channel will be damaged. Buybacks providing a floor = telling the market, "I stand behind this instrument, and I will protect its face value"—protecting STRC means protecting the financing machine for buying BTC.

② Cut dividend costs: A 12% annual cost is too expensive. STRC is a variable-rate preferred stock with dividends as high as 12%—every share repurchased means one fewer share of dividends to pay in the future. Using cash to "pay 12% less interest in the future" is worthwhile no matter how you calculate it.

③ Buy its own dip: Buy a $100 asset for above $90. The average repurchase price was in the $90-$100 range—repurchasing below face value = earning the difference per share while saving on dividends. Management is signaling through its actions: "My preferred stock is undervalued"—more convincing than any research report.

II. What This Means for STRC and BTC Separately

STRC: It has short-term support, but in the long term it is a "bond-like asset," not a "growth stock."
- Short term: Approximately $350 million remains in the buyback authorization—as long as buybacks continue, there will be support near $100
- In essence: Preferred stock has a face value and dividends, with limited upside—once it reaches $100, it hits the ceiling; it doesn't offer the unlimited upside of BTC
- Key risk: Once the $350 million authorization is used up, the supporting hand will be gone—the day buyback activity weakens is the day the price gets repriced

BTC: Slower coin purchases are "temporary," not a "change in direction."
- Holdings of 848,000 BTC + continued weekly purchases = the conviction hasn't changed
- But "repurchasing preferred stock" taking priority over "buying coins" = a short-term diversion of funds—a slight negative for BTC (a slower buying pace), not a liquidation signal

III. STRC or BTC?
These are two completely different assets and cannot be compared as an "either-or" choice:
- Choose STRC = seek "income + defense": 12% dividends, a face-value floor, and low volatility—suitable for "conservative players" as a high-yield fixed-income alternative (while accepting a ceiling on price gains)
- Choose BTC = seek "upside + conviction": no yield, high volatility, and ample room to rise—suitable for "offensive players" looking to capitalize on trends
- The most realistic answer: Large investors want "both"—collecting income and benefiting from the floor with STRC, while riding the trend with BTC—Strategy itself is "holding coins + issuing preferred stock" to capture both sides, so following its example makes sense

The $369 million STRC buyback is a three-in-one capital operation of "price defense + cost-cutting + buying its own dip"—supporting STRC in the short term, with the medium-term question being who takes over once the $350 million authorization is used up; for BTC, it is only a slight negative due to a "slower coin-buying pace." Saylor hasn't changed his mind; he's simply "using the cheapest money to sustain the most expensive conviction."

Buybacks use the company's money, while CPI is the market's air—September CPI will be released tonight (10/14) at 8:30 p.m. The company can support STRC, but it can't support the macro environment. BTC at $82K—let the data do the talking. #每周来晒
