The storage sector suddenly sells off; one sentence from Musk awakens the market—has an opportunity arrived for crypto?

On October 13, Musk unusually spoke out, directly pointing to the core logic behind the sell-off in storage chip stocks: once China masters a certain manufacturing technology, its capacity expansion often exceeds that of all other regions in the world combined.

Changxin Technology announced a breakthrough in the 4F² architecture, reducing DRAM cell area by one-third and increasing storage density by 50%, with DDR5 RDIMM server memory expected to launch by year-end. Micron and SanDisk have declined for six consecutive trading days, with Micron down nearly 20% from its high.

My view is clear: the sell-off in storage stocks is essentially profit-taking after expectations were fully priced in. TrendForce data shows that the rate of DRAM price increases plunged from 93% in the first quarter to 18% in the third quarter. But what the crypto sector should focus on is not how much storage stocks have fallen, but the structural changes taking place on the cost side of mining machines—China's capacity expansion directly pushes down DRAM prices, lowering mining machine production costs. Improved mining profitability is a tangible positive.

BTC is currently range-bound around $84,000, while $550 million in liquidations over 24 hours completed a round of leverage cleansing, and the market is now entering a window for choosing a direction.

What should traders do?

Don't chase storage-themed altcoins; keep an eye on the mining machine supply chain and BTC's cost-support logic. Bitcoin's production cost will move lower as DRAM prices decline. If BTC holds the $83,000 support, expectations of improving miner profit margins will gradually be priced in.

Do you think this round of storage sell-off is a "golden opportunity" or a cyclical reversal?

DRAM price cuts → mining machine costs ↓ → mining profits ↑—this transmission chain is more worth watching than memory stocks themselves

Don’t chase storage-sector copycats +1, the mining machine industry chain and cost support are the main narrative of this cycle
