Samsung Electronics and SK hynix both tumble—does the AI chip thesis still hold? Don’t rush to bottom-fish Korean stocks and pay tuition

Korean stocks suddenly plunged, with Samsung Electronics and SK hynix becoming the market’s focal points. For investors who have remained bullish on the AI industry chain, this decline is undeniably tempting: they were previously afraid to buy because prices were too high, but now that prices have finally fallen, has the opportunity finally arrived?
I believe the key is not how much prices have fallen, but whether the core logic behind the rally has changed.
Samsung Electronics’ businesses span memory chips, advanced manufacturing, and consumer electronics, while SK hynix holds an important position in the high-bandwidth memory sector. As AI model training, inference, and data center construction continue to develop, demand for high-performance memory remains worth watching. But a favorable industry outlook does not mean stock prices cannot fluctuate sharply in the short term. Markets often price in future growth ahead of time. Once expectations become too high, even companies with solid results may face a correction if they fail to meet expectations.
Therefore, I will focus on three signals. First, whether HBM demand and pricing trends remain stable, and whether companies’ orders and earnings forecasts have changed significantly. Second, whether global technology stocks and the semiconductor sector are falling in tandem. If this is a broad-based release of risk, it will be necessary to observe further when capital regains its risk appetite. Finally, I will monitor the exchange rate in the Korean market, foreign capital flows, and overall index performance to determine whether this decline is a localized correction or a broader contraction in risk appetite.
If these indicators gradually improve, I would consider building positions in batches rather than betting all at once on the bottom. If earnings expectations continue to be revised downward, or if a stock rebound lacks volume support, continuing to wait and see may instead be more rational.
My choice is not to blindly bottom-fish, but neither to completely dismiss the long-term opportunity in AI chips just because prices have fallen. Those who already hold positions should reassess their position sizes and risk tolerance; those who have not yet entered can first list their target prices and fundamental conditions, then act once the signals become clearer.
The most expensive thing in the market is sometimes not the stock itself, but the confidence of “I think it has fallen enough.” AI is a long-term story, but the purchase price matters just as much. Do you think this decline in Korean stocks is a healthy correction, or is the market repricing expectations for semiconductor growth?#每周来晒 and #韩股大跌你会抄底吗 $MU .
