The Ledger Incident Sounds the Alarm: The Most Expensive Lesson in the Crypto World Is Often Called Security Awareness
The crypto industry has reminded us once again: Market conditions can wait, opportunities can be found, but asset security must never rely on luck. If reports that Ledger-related incidents caused losses of nearly $90 million are true, this is not only a troubling risk signal but also something every digital asset holder should take as an opportunity to reassess their security habits.
Many people enter the crypto market to study candlestick charts, track price movements, and hunt for hundredfold coins, eager to turn every fluctuation into a money-making opportunity. Yet when it comes to security, some find the procedures too troublesome, consider backups a hassle, fail to check approvals, and click links without even looking at them. As a result, before market conditions can take away their profits, security vulnerabilities have already removed their principal from the game.
It should be noted that the specific loss amount, the cause of the incident, and the assignment of responsibility should still be determined based on reliable investigations and official disclosures, rather than conclusions drawn solely from online rumors. But regardless of how the incident is ultimately characterized, its core lesson deserves attention: A hardware wallet does not mean absolute security. Users’ operating habits, seed phrase storage, device sources, and software environment are equally important.
My advice is to never screenshot or upload your seed phrase, send it through chat tools, or disclose it to anyone claiming to be customer service; carefully verify domain names before connecting to websites, review transaction details before signing, consider managing large long-term holdings in separate layers, and regularly check approvals and device security.
There is a realistic joke in the crypto world: When making money, you feel like an investment guru; only after losing your coins do you realize that you were not even a competent security officer. Investment ability determines how much you can earn, while security awareness determines how much you can keep. Instead of studying how to double your assets every day, first make sure they will not be wiped out by a single moment of carelessness.$TSLA #Ledger事件损失近9000万
