🔥Profit surged 8x, yet the stock was hammered: memory stocks recovered overnight, and the “sell into good news” curse will be settled next Tuesday
(Saturday, October 10 · Weekly review)
The most surreal plot twist this week: Samsung’s Q3 operating profit surged nearly 8x to a record high, yet its stock was hammered—this wasn’t the first time; when profit surged 18x in July, the stock still fell 10%. The more explosive the results, the harder the sell-off. Veteran traders call this “selling into good news”: the good news has already been fully priced in, and the day it materializes is the day to sell.
But two points are worth remembering: Micron reported $54.2 billion in revenue at the end of last month, up nearly 4x year-on-year, with an 87% gross margin. Management stated outright that memory supply and demand will be tighter in 2027 and 2028 than this year. On Friday, Micron, SanDisk, and SK hynix all recovered 2%; the massacre night did not turn into consecutive massacres.
The chain reaction is clear: once chips stabilize, crypto dares to rebound. The entire weekend market turned positive, with ZEC leading gains at +1.6%, while Bitcoin reclaimed 82,800.
📌Key levels for major assets
BTC 82,800: Reclaimed the area above the 82,560 prior low; support at 80,550 (50-day moving average), and a move above 84,200 opens the way to 85,600;
ETH 2,496: Still the weakest of the lot; support at 2,400→2,320, resistance at 2,552→2,678;
SOL 109.9: Hugging the 50-day moving average at 108; support at 108→100, resistance at 118→125;
ZEC 1,225: Back above the 50-day moving average at 1,176; resistance at 1,320→1,439, support at 1,176→1,077;
Gold 4,197: Support at 4,100→4,073, resistance at 4,230→4,260; a move above 4,260 opens the way to 4,385;
MU 1,033: Support at the 1,000 round-number level→950, resistance at 1,124.
In a word: is the curse still in effect, or was this a mistaken sell-off? Tuesday at 8:30 p.m., the CPI will decide. Before the cards are revealed, positioning is worth more than opinions. Sleep well over the weekend, and don’t stare at the charts. #BTC $BTC
