SOL is sitting near $120, but the real story is no longer just about price — it is about where the demand is coming from.
SOL is trading around the $120 area, after reaching an intraday high near $122. The important part is that price has remained relatively resilient even as the latest U.S. spot SOL ETF data turned negative.
On October 5, SOL spot ETFs recorded approximately $9.245M in net outflows. BSOL accounted for about $7.121M of the withdrawals, while FSOL saw another $2.124M leave. No other tracked fund recorded an inflow that day.
At first glance, that looks bearish.
But the bigger picture is more interesting.
SOL ETFs had generated around $2.43M of net inflows during September 28–October 2, compared with roughly $188M the previous week. That is an enormous slowdown in fresh ETF demand.
Yet cumulative ETF net inflows remain around $1.59B, meaning the recent weakness is better described as a sharp reduction in new capital entering the market, rather than evidence that the entire institutional position has suddenly disappeared.
That distinction matters.
The ETF narrative is cooling, but the Solana network itself has not gone quiet.
On October 3, Solana processed approximately $3.06B in daily spot DEX volume, highlighting that trading activity inside the ecosystem remains substantial even while ETF flows are losing momentum.
So I would separate the two signals.
ETF flows represent one form of capital allocation: investors buying exposure through regulated products.
On-chain activity represents another side of the market: traders using the network, swapping assets, interacting with DeFi and generating actual transaction demand.
When ETF inflows accelerate, SOL can benefit from a strong institutional liquidity narrative.
When ETF inflows slow down, the market has to prove that there is enough organic demand underneath the price.
That is exactly what SOL is being tested on now.
The $120 question
At the current price, $120 is becoming the psychological and structural decision zone.
If SOL can defend the $119–$120 area and reclaim $122, the recent weakness can still develop into consolidation rather than a deeper reversal.
Above $122, I would watch $124–$125 as the next confirmation zone. A clean break and sustained acceptance above that area would improve the short-term structure and put $128–$132 back on the radar.
But there is another side.
If SOL repeatedly fails around $120–$122 and eventually loses $118–$119, the market would be showing that buyers are no longer absorbing the selling pressure effectively.
A break below approximately $116–$117 would be much more concerning. That would invalidate the immediate bullish structure and make $112–$115 the next area I would watch.
So the setup is not simply bullish or bearish.
It is a capital-flow transition.
The market previously had two powerful narratives supporting SOL: institutional ETF demand and strong ecosystem activity.
Now the first one is clearly cooling.
The second one is still active.
That creates an important question for the next few weeks:
Can real network usage keep supporting SOL while institutional inflows slow down?
If the answer is yes, the current pullback could eventually become a healthier reset rather than the beginning of a major trend reversal.
If ETF outflows continue for several sessions while on-chain activity also starts weakening and SOL loses $116–$117, then the argument changes completely.
For now, I would not treat one $9.245M ETF outflow as institutional capitulation. The cumulative flow picture is still strongly positive, while recent on-chain activity shows that Solana's ecosystem continues to attract meaningful trading activity.
My levels for SOL today:
$119–$120 → immediate defense zone
$122 → first bullish confirmation
$124–$125 → major breakout test
$128–$132 → upside target zone if breakout confirms
$116–$117 → key bearish invalidation area
$112–$115 → downside zone if support fails
The most important thing I am watching is not whether tomorrow's ETF number is positive or negative.
It is whether SOL can continue holding its price structure while the source of demand changes from ETF-driven capital toward actual ecosystem activity.
That is the real SOL story right now.
ETF money is cooling.
On-chain activity is still alive.
And $120 is where the market has to prove which side is stronger.
