#PONSLaunchesCyclicalBuyback $PONS

PONS's 7-Day Buyback Cycle Is a Smoother, Not a Bigger Buyer: What $950K a Week Does to a $288M Token

Start with the size of the new mechanism. Funds arrive every seven days, then are used over the following seven days for buying and burning, at a rate of 2 ETH per hour. That is 336 ETH a cycle, roughly $0.9M to $0.95M, matching the $950K sitting in the distribution contract. At 0.4233, $950K buys about 2.24M PONS a week, which is roughly 0.33% of the 681M tokens in circulation, or around $5.4K every hour. Repeated every week, that is about $49M a year, about 17% of the current $288M market cap. It is real, but it is not a squeeze.

The more interesting part is the design. The rate is set to match the money in the contract, not the fees coming in that week, and next cycle's funds go into a reserve vault. That means buyback demand follows launchpad activity with a delay of up to two weeks instead of day by day. A busy week does not speed up the burn, and a quiet week does not stop it. For traders that is good for predictability and weaker as a price signal, and a fixed hourly bot is also easy to front-run.

It also fixes a real problem. An analyst pointed out that more than five days had passed without funds reaching the distributor, with about $440K waiting in escrow and the effective burn rate near $120K a day. The founder acknowledged it, upgraded the contract and made the claim automatic, so anyone can trigger the bot for a small reward. That trust gap is probably why PONS slid about 15% in a few hours on October 3, before bouncing about 5% from the 0.4014 area.

For context, the protocol takes 30% of a 1% trading fee, and 80% of that goes to buyback and burn. At the early-September peak, the launchpad was generating about $5.95M in fees in a day, which implied roughly $1.4M a day of buyback. The current pace of about $130K a day is under a tenth of that. So the cycle is more sustainable, but its size depends entirely on whether launchpad volume comes back. About 32% of the original supply is already burned, so the next burn percentage points are coming much slower than the first ones.

On the hourly chart PONS is at 0.4233 and RSI is 49.43. Price sits under all three averages: 0.4486 for the 50, 0.4900 for the 99 and 0.5334 for the 200, all sloping down. Resistance is 0.4269, support is 0.4014, and the September 23 high near 0.765 is about 45% above.

My bias is bearish while PONS trades below 0.4486. I would only buy a dip into 0.4014 to 0.4050, with a stop under 0.3790 and targets at 0.4486 and 0.4900, which is roughly 1.9 to 1 and 3.6 to 1 from 0.4030. A break below 0.4014 puts 0.38 in play and cancels the idea.

Do you see a steady weekly buyback as real support, or does it only matter once launchpad volume returns?
