GT Is Higher on the Lowest Turnover of the Week: Reading Day Five of the Witness Program

Three snapshots tell the story better than any single price. On October 2, GT traded at 10.94 with about $466K of turnover. On October 3 it tagged 11.31 on $826K, then faded to 10.93. Today it sits at 11.14, up about 1.9% from yesterday, but turnover has dropped to roughly $381K, down about 54% in a day. Price is going up while participation is going down, which is the opposite of what I want to see if the program is meant to pull in new buyers.

The program's own numbers point the same way. The hashtag had about 1.88k posts and 36.3K views two days ago, and now has about 2.56k posts and 38.6K views. Posts are up about 36% while views are up only about 6%, which means the average post is getting roughly 15 views, down from about 19. Participation is growing faster than attention, so the novelty is already getting crowded, and the market seems to have noticed. I would be careful reading too much into a hashtag counter, but the direction matches the turnover.

Some context on size. GT has a market cap of about $1.18B, ranks 75th, and has 106.65M tokens circulating out of a maximum of 140.05M, so about 76% is already out and about 33M remains. Turnover of $381K is only about 0.03% of market cap, which is very thin. On a tape that thin, a rise is easy to print and easy to reverse, so I treat today's 11.14 as unconfirmed.

Just over a quarter of the program has run, and about 11 days remain until October 15 at 12:00 UTC+8. The prizes, GT, F1 tickets and signed merchandise, do not move a token of this size by themselves. The thing that could matter is whether the themes of holding, paying and trading turn into real usage, and that shows up in turnover and on-chain activity, not in post counts.

My plan has not changed, and the retest I wanted did not arrive, so I am not chasing. Buying 11.14 with a stop at 10.39 risks about 6.7% for about 7.7% of upside to 12.00, which is barely better than 1 to 1. I stay constructive while daily closes hold above 10.90, the old ceiling that should now act as support, and I would add on a retest of 10.81 to 10.90. A daily close above 11.31 on turnover back above $826K upgrades the case and targets 12.00. A daily close below 10.39 cancels it.

Which matters more to you for a token like this, price making new highs or the turnover behind it?
