#OpenAIAnnualRecurringRevenueNears$70B The $70 Billion Run Rate: How OpenAI's Enterprise Surge Is Reshaping the AI Race

OpenAI's annual recurring revenue is now approaching $70 billion, according to a report by Axios citing people familiar with the company's financials a number that reframes how fast the AI industry's leaders are scaling, and how high the stakes are ahead of the sector's most anticipated IPOs.

The headline is the acceleration, not just the size. OpenAI's annualized revenue run rate has grown more than 70% since the beginning of the third quarter in July. Within that, business-to-business revenue has more than doubled over the same period, signaling that enterprise adoption long considered rival Anthropic's stronghold is now a genuine growth engine for OpenAI too. On the consumer side, the momentum is even starker: OpenAI added more revenue in the third quarter alone than it added during all of 2025.

That combination is important because it shows demand coming from both directions at once. ChatGPT's consumer base continues to compound while enterprises sign larger, longer contracts a two-engine growth profile that is rare in software and is exactly what IPO investors want to see.

The competitive context sharpens the story. Anthropic disclosed in May that its annualized revenue run rate had reached $47 billion, up from $30 billion in April, and it has since reported an annualized rate of roughly $65 billion. Both companies are now operating at revenue scales that would have been unthinkable two years ago, and both are heading toward public listings that will force their extraordinary revenue growth to be weighed against their equally extraordinary spending on compute and infrastructure.

That is the real tension. These revenue milestones arrive in the same week that Anthropic revealed an $84.5 billion compute commitment to SpaceX and a $518 billion decade-long infrastructure plan. Growth this fast is expensive to sustain, and the IPO prospectuses will finally give investors a full look at the other side of the ledger the capital intensity behind the revenue.

For the broader market, the message is clear: the AI buildout is no longer a speculative narrative. It is producing real, enormous revenue streams at the application layer, which flows downstream to the chipmakers, data-center operators, and cloud providers that power it. A $70 billion run rate at OpenAI is not just a milestone for one company it is evidence that the AI infrastructure supercycle has moved from promise to proof. @Gate_Square
