#OpenAIAnnualRecurringRevenueNears$70B $OPENAI

The reaction today is worth noting on its own. OPENAIUSDT touched $1,608 and is now sitting at $1,599, basically flat for the session after yesterday's sharp breakout that took it from the $1,379 fifty-day average all the way to $1,689. That's a pause, not a continuation, and after a move that size, the pause itself tells you something.

RSI sitting at 61.89 is healthy but has actually come down a touch from yesterday's reading near 65, and the MACD histogram is still positive but visibly narrowing, 69.08 against a signal line of 61.63, the gap between them shrinking compared to yesterday's wider spread. That's the signature of a move that found its initial burst of momentum and is now digesting rather than extending.

I think this is actually the expected behavior after a 20%-plus single-day move driven by one disclosure. The revenue number itself, nearing $70 billion in annualized run rate, was genuinely extraordinary, and the market did what markets do with genuinely extraordinary news: priced it in fast, then immediately started asking whether that price is fully justified before pushing further.

What I'd watch from here is whether $1,599 to $1,600 holds as a floor over the next couple of sessions. That level roughly matches where price is consolidating right now, just under the spike high and comfortably above the old resistance zone around $1,398 that capped this chart back in July. If that zone holds and price eventually pushes back toward and through $1,690, that's a healthy continuation pattern, a strong move, a pause to let the RSI cool off, then another leg. If instead price slips back below $1,400, that would say the breakout was more of a one-day emotional reaction to a headline number than a genuine repricing.

The thing I keep coming back to from yesterday still applies here. Axios itself flagged that OpenAI's expense details weren't available alongside this revenue figure, and the 2025 numbers showed a $38.5 billion loss on a much smaller revenue base. A chart cooling off after a spike like this is actually the more rational response than if it had kept ripping higher on revenue growth alone without any visibility into whether spending is scaling proportionally. The market pausing to think is, in this case, smarter than the market not pausing at all.

Does today's cooldown look like healthy consolidation before another leg to you, or does the narrowing MACD worry you that yesterday's move already captured most of what this news was going to be worth?
