#MarvellJumps4.5% $MRVL $ARM $COHR $MU

Micron just answered the question I was asking two days ago. Q4 revenue came in at $54.23 billion against expectations sitting closer to $50-51 billion, and non-GAAP EPS hit $33.42 versus the roughly $31.5 the street was modeling. That's not a modest beat, that's the kind of number that validates an entire narrative in one print. The 86% margin guidance I was watching closely actually held, which means the memory price hike story isn't just showing up in everyone else's cost structure anymore, it's landing cleanly on Micron's own bottom line too.

So when I look at yesterday's broad AI hardware rally, Lumentum up over 5%, Marvell and Corning over 4%, ARM and Coherent over 3%, the rest trailing behind, I think Micron's actual results are a big part of why that rally had legs rather than fading by the close. A blowout print from the most directly memory-exposed name in the group gives the whole thesis a concrete anchor. It's one thing for a sector to rally on vibes and anticipation. It's another for the rally to get confirmed by hard numbers from the company everyone was waiting on.

What I noticed yesterday, and still think matters, is that the leadership inside that rally wasn't evenly spread. Lumentum, an optics and photonics name, led the pack, not the chipmakers everyone talks about first. That tells me capital isn't just chasing "anything AI," it's specifically rewarding the physical connectivity layer, the glass and lasers that move data between racks, alongside the memory and processing names. Micron's print gives the memory side of that story hard confirmation. The optics side is still running more on anticipation than on a single verified result the way Micron just delivered.

There's a concrete date I'd now put on my radar that wasn't there a few days ago. Marvell has an investor day scheduled for October 6, with CEO Matt Murphy presenting alongside senior leadership. Given Marvell was one of the stronger movers in yesterday's rally, that event becomes the next real test for whether this sector-wide enthusiasm has substance behind it specifically for custom silicon and data center connectivity, the way Micron's earnings call just did for memory.

Here's where I'd push back on myself a little. A single blowout quarter from one company doesn't automatically mean every name that rallied alongside it deserves the same confidence. Micron earned its move with actual numbers. ARM, Coherent, and the others rallied on sentiment spillover, which is a very different thing from delivering their own confirming data point. I'd treat Micron's print as evidence the underlying AI infrastructure demand story is real and intact, not as proof that every stock riding that wave yesterday is equally justified at current prices.

What I actually want to see now is whether Marvell's October 6 event produces something comparable to what Micron just delivered, real numbers and guidance that confirm the custom silicon and connectivity thesis, not just reassuring language. If it does, I'd read that as two separate pillars of this sector-wide story getting independently confirmed within a week of each other, which would be a meaningfully stronger signal than either print alone.

Does a genuine beat like Micron's change how you're looking at the rest of the sector, or are you treating memory's strength as separate from how the custom silicon and optics names are priced right now?
