#OpenAIAnnualRecurringRevenueNears$70B The $1.4T Valuation Test

OpenAI is now approaching $70B in annualized revenue, but the bigger market story today is the valuation investors may be willing to attach to that growth.

According to reports published September 29, OpenAI is seeking at least $30B in fresh funding at an approximately $1.4T valuation. The discussions are still early, so the valuation and terms can change.

Put the two numbers together and the market gets a useful benchmark:

$1.4T valuation ÷ ~$70B annualized revenue = ~20× ARR.

That is not a conventional earnings multiple, because ARR is an annualized revenue pace rather than audited full-year revenue. But it tells me something important: investors are being asked to price a huge amount of future AI growth today.

The growth engine is changing

OpenAI’s annualized revenue run rate has increased more than 70% since the beginning of Q3, while enterprise sales have more than doubled since July. Consumer revenue is also accelerating, with Q3 consumer revenue reportedly exceeding the amount generated during all of 2025.

That gives the $70B figure two different engines:

Enterprise: larger business contracts, API usage and growing adoption of AI agents.

Consumer: continued expansion of paid AI products and usage.

For me, enterprise growth is particularly important because recurring business contracts can provide a more durable revenue base but the next question is whether that revenue scales faster than the cost of compute required to deliver it.

The valuation jump is the real market signal

OpenAI’s previous March funding round closed with $122B of committed capital at an $852B post-money valuation.

The proposed $1.4T level would be roughly 64% above that March valuation.

That means the market is not simply saying OpenAI is growing.

It is potentially assigning a substantially higher value to the future cash flows of that growth.

And that is where I would be careful with the headline.

A $70B run rate does not mean OpenAI has already earned $70B in a completed fiscal year, and current reporting does not provide enough information to determine how much of that revenue converts into sustainable profit. Reuters also notes that annualized run rates can distort the underlying financial picture when growth is changing rapidly.

The Gate OPENAI angle

This is where the story becomes more interesting for Gate users.

OPENAI/USDT is an OpenAI Pre-IPO asset certificate — it is not shares of a publicly listed OpenAI company.

So I would not treat the reported $1.4T private valuation as a direct market-cap calculation for the token.

Instead, I want to measure whether the token is actually responding to the new private-market valuation signal.

The data I would record is:

OPENAI price → 24H change → 24H high/low → spot volume → market cap → nearest support → nearest resistance.

Then compare the token's reaction with the timing of the $1.4T valuation news.

My trading framework

I would structure the trade before entering it:

Entry zone: current price or confirmed breakout/retest area.

Invalidation: loss of the nearest structural support with volume.

Target: next major resistance or previous swing high.

Confirmation: volume expansion + price holding above the breakout level.

R:R: only consider the setup if the potential upside clearly justifies the predefined downside.

That is more useful to me than simply calling the token bullish because OpenAI's private valuation increased.

One number I’m watching closely

The proposed valuation is $1.4T.

The reported annualized revenue is ~$70B.

The resulting ~20× ARR is the market's implied growth premium.

If OpenAI can continue expanding enterprise revenue while consumer demand remains strong, the $70B run rate could keep moving higher and make today's valuation easier to justify over time.

But if revenue growth slows while compute and infrastructure costs continue climbing, the same 20× figure becomes much harder to defend.

That is the real trade behind today's headline:

The market is not just pricing OpenAI's current $70B revenue pace it is pricing how large that number can become next.

For Gate, I would therefore track OPENAI/USDT price + volume + support/resistance + private valuation news + broader crypto liquidity together. That turns the $1.4T headline into a measurable trading thesis rather than simply repeating an AI valuation story.
