#AnthropicDiscloses$84.5BComputeDealWithSpaceX $84.5B Is Only One Part of a Much Bigger AI Compute Story

$84.5B sounds enormous but the bigger story is what it says about the scale of AI infrastructure spending.
Anthropic has disclosed agreements that could allow up to $84.5B in spending on SpaceX AI compute through 2029, nearly double the previously reported ~$45B figure. The key detail: this is a maximum contractual value, not an upfront payment, and most of the agreements can be terminated with 90 days’ notice.

The infrastructure behind the deal is equally important. SpaceX’s Colossus 1 already has 220,000+ NVIDIA GPUs and more than 300 MW of power capacity, while agreements disclosed by SpaceX cover approximately 325,000 NVIDIA GPUs across Colossus and Colossus II.

That makes this more than an Anthropic headline for me. It is a direct signal that AI demand is increasingly becoming an infrastructure race GPUs, networking, optical connectivity, power and data-center capacity all have to scale together.

And the $84.5B figure is only one piece of the picture.

Anthropic expects at least $518B of AI infrastructure spending over the next decade across six partners, showing how aggressively frontier AI companies are locking in compute capacity. About 80% of that broader commitment is described as non-cancelable or payable regardless of usage, which makes the long-term infrastructure demand story even more significant.

For the market, my focus is therefore not only on Anthropic itself. I’m watching the companies supplying the AI stack:

NVDA → GPU compute
AVGO → networking/custom AI infrastructure
MRVL → data-center connectivity and optical infrastructure
AMD → alternative accelerator capacity

My trading approach here is simple: I don’t chase the headline candle. I watch whether AI infrastructure stocks can hold their breakout levels after the initial news reaction.

The signals I care about are price + volume + support/resistance + open interest + funding. If price rises while volume and OI expand together, I treat that as stronger confirmation than price alone. If the move starts losing volume while leverage builds, I become more cautious.

The bigger takeaway: AI compute is moving from a capacity problem into a multi-year infrastructure investment cycle.

For my Gate analysis, the next useful confirmation is how NVDA, AVGO, MRVL and AMD react after the headline especially whether the market continues pricing higher AI infrastructure demand or starts taking profits after the initial excitement. @Gate_Square

Everyone who wanted to has already bought in. Will there be anything to drive growth in the near future?
