My Q3 Save Note: One Call I Got Right, One I'm Still Reviewing, and What I'm Watching Into Q4

Last day of the quarter always makes me go back through my notes and actually be honest with myself about what worked and what didn't. Here's my save file for Q3.

The call I'm most glad I made

Staying patient through the mid-quarter chop instead of forcing trades. There were multiple stretches this quarter where price sat in tight ranges for days, and every instinct said "do something." The times I sat on my hands and waited for a level to actually confirm, rather than guessing at a breakout early, were the trades that worked out cleanest. The ones where I jumped in because I was bored watching a range, those cost me more than the market ever did.

The specific example that sticks with me is treating reclaimed levels as things that need to prove themselves, not things to celebrate immediately. A level getting reclaimed after being lost is only meaningful once it's actually held on a retest. I got burned earlier in the year buying the reclaim itself instead of waiting for the retest, and this quarter I finally applied that lesson consistently. It made a real difference.

The one worth reviewing honestly

Getting excited about a narrative move before checking whether the fundamentals behind it could actually support the price. Q3 had a few moments where a token or sector story was moving fast, and the story alone pulled me in before I'd done the basic homework on usage numbers, supply structure, or who was actually buying. Looking back, the trades that worked were the ones where I separated "this is a great story" from "this is a great entry," and the ones that didn't work were the ones where I let the story do the thinking for me.

I'm not going to pretend I've fully fixed this. It's the thing I catch myself doing most often, and it's the habit I want to actively work against going into Q4.

What I'm keeping on my radar for Q4

A few threads from this quarter feel like they're not finished yet. Corporate treasury accumulation in BTC has been more uneven than the headline totals suggest, a few dominant buyers doing most of the work, with newer entrants trying to build credibility. Whether that broadens out or stays concentrated in a handful of names is something I want to keep tracking rather than assuming either way.

I'm also watching how tokenized real-world assets, stocks in particular, keep growing in on-chain trading volume. That trend built through Q3 and it doesn't look like a fad, it looks like infrastructure that's actually getting used. Where that volume concentrates next quarter, and whether new entrants can meaningfully compete for it, is worth following closely rather than assuming the current leaders stay fixed in place.

And on the macro side, I want to keep separating "leverage flush" from "genuine trend change" every time there's a sharp pullback. This quarter reminded me that liquidation data tells you a lot about who got hurt, but not necessarily where price goes next. That distinction is one I want to get sharper at, not looser at, heading into Q4.

My honest takeaway

Q3 taught me more about patience than about prediction. The best decisions weren't the ones where I called a move early, they were the ones where I waited for confirmation and didn't let a good story substitute for actual homework. Going into Q4, that's the discipline I want to carry forward more consistently than I did this quarter.
