If you’re sitting in USDT waiting for the next market setup, the money doesn’t necessarily have to sit idle with you.

This is what caught my attention about Gate’s current limited-time Phase 2 financial products. Instead of forcing yourself into a trade just because you have capital available, there are two different ways to potentially earn on funds that you were already planning to keep on the sidelines.

The first is Idle Money Treasure, designed around flexibility. Net deposits starting from 10,000 USDT, BTC or ETH can qualify, with a combined annualized yield of up to 5% during the event. There is no lock-up and no subscription requirement, so the main idea is simple: keep your capital relatively accessible while still earning something on idle funds.

Then there is Yu Coin Treasure Fixed-Term, which takes a different approach. Eligible VIP3–VIP14 users with at least 100,000 USDT in net deposits can subscribe to a 7-day USDT fixed-term product. With the event boost, the combined annualized yield can reach up to 11%, with a principal cap of 100,000 USDT.

The difference between the two is really about liquidity versus commitment. If you might need your USDT at any moment because a trading opportunity appears, the flexible product is built around keeping funds available. If you already know that a portion of your capital will not be needed for seven days, the fixed-term option offers a higher advertised annualized rate during the campaign.

I also wouldn't look at the 11% figure and assume you're earning 11% in seven days. That's an annualized rate, not a seven-day return. The actual return over the seven-day period is much smaller, and the promotional rate is subject to the event's conditions.

That's an important distinction because financial-product headlines can make the number look much bigger than the actual short-term payout.

For me, the bigger purpose of products like these is capital efficiency. Trading isn't about being in a position every minute. Sometimes the best decision is to wait for a cleaner setup, and having a way to potentially earn on idle capital can make that waiting period more productive.

At the same time, I would check the exact eligibility requirements, net-deposit calculation, subscription limits, redemption or repurchase rules and the event end date before putting funds into either product. The advertised maximum annualized yield applies under specific campaign conditions and shouldn't be treated as a permanent rate or guaranteed return.

So the decision is fairly straightforward: need flexibility, look at the flexible option; know you can leave eligible USDT untouched for seven days, compare the fixed-term terms.

The important part isn't chasing the highest percentage.

It's making sure the product matches what you actually plan to do with your capital.

Sometimes staying on the sidelines is part of the strategy. The question is whether your idle capital can work while you wait.
