I’ve seen quite a few people discussing Gate’s CFDs. I’ve been using them for a while myself, so I wanted to share my genuine experience—no hype and no unfair criticism.

Many people’s first reaction is to focus only on how high the leverage can go, but what impressed me most was actually the convenience and variety.
In the past, we had to monitor crypto, gold, and U.S. stock indices at the same time, switching between several apps and constantly moving funds around. When the market moved quickly, simply logging in, confirming orders, and transferring funds could throw off the rhythm. Now, with one Gate account, USDT can be used directly to access stocks, forex, gold, indices, and commodities, with 620+ trading pairs available. It eliminates cross-platform registration and repeated deposits and withdrawals, which is genuinely more convenient.
Personally, I really like being able to trade both long and short. There are ways to trade rising markets and ways to respond to falling markets, so you don’t have to passively wait for a one-sided move. Stock ETFs, major forex pairs, global indices, crude oil, and gold can all be viewed and traded in one place. For people who have used crypto accounts for a long time, the barrier to entry is low and the operation feels smooth.
But objectively speaking, CFDs are not an all-in tool.
You should first fully understand the rules on margin, spreads, overnight fees, and liquidation thresholds, then start by testing with a small position. The higher the leverage, the less margin is required, but the smaller your margin for error becomes. Compared with blindly chasing high multiples, I now pay more attention to trading costs, position management, and stop-losses. Also, CFDs do not operate 24/7 like the crypto market. Some instruments have market closures, and holding positions overnight may incur fees, so I don’t casually hold large positions overnight.
When I tested gold CFDs myself, I also started with low leverage and a small position. My main takeaway was that leverage can be adjusted to suit your own pace, so there’s no need to max it out from the start. Settling directly with USDT genuinely lowers the barrier to participating in global markets.
Gate bringing traditional financial instruments like CFDs onto a crypto platform is a direction that could also become a future industry trend.
The boundaries between the crypto market and traditional finance are gradually fading, and the crypto space will no longer be an isolated island.
In the past, we could only focus on trading crypto assets. Now, we can use various global assets to build portfolios and hedge, diversifying the risks of relying on a single market.
As the market continues to develop, demand for this kind of one-stop, multi-asset trading will only grow, and traders’ asset-allocation strategies will shift from a single sector toward a global macro perspective.
In the future, we won’t have to focus only on crypto markets; we can also use various global assets to build portfolios and hedge, diversifying the risks of relying on a single market.
The essence of trading is to give yourself more choices, rather than putting all your chips on the same sector.
Understand the rules first, then talk about leverage; control your position first, then talk about opportunities.

Well said. CFDs really aren’t a tool for going all-in; I’ve seen far too many people get liquidated using high leverage.

Directly settling stock indices with USDT indeed lowers the barrier for crypto old-timers.

620+ trading pairs? That’s pretty impressive coverage—before, you had to open another account just to trade gold.

Indeed, switching back and forth between platforms is such a pain—having one account handle everything is really convenient.

I really like the ability to go both long and short—no more waiting around for the bull market.

Margin, spread, and liquidation thresholds—if you really don't understand these three, don't touch it.

Start with a small position and low leverage, then scale up; survive first, talk about making money later.

That last line—understand the rules before talking about leverage—is worth etching into your mind and lungs.

“Global macro perspective” is an interesting way to put it; a single sector does indeed concentrate risk.

Gate’s positioning in this round is quite forward-looking; let’s see whether it can build up liquidity going forward.
