$BTC vs. $ETH ETF Flows: This Week's Print Just Flipped the Script
Last time we flagged Ethereum ETFs pulling ahead of Bitcoin funds. This week's data tells the opposite story. Is the "ETH is catching up" narrative already breaking down, or is one week just noise in a longer rotation?
US spot Bitcoin ETFs barely survived a second straight negative week, closing at just $6.2 million in net inflows, rescued almost entirely by a $433 million Friday surge, with Fidelity's FBTC alone contributing $310.7 million of that. Ethereum ETFs went the other way, losing $140 million and snapping a four-week inflow streak that had brought in $1.94 billion.
What's Actually Happening?
Two weeks ago, ETH funds were outpacing BTC funds on a weekly basis. This week, Bitcoin held its ground on a single strong day while Ethereum's streak broke. That's not confirmation of renewed Bitcoin dominance, it's a reminder that these flows swing week to week rather than trending in one direction.
Data Points to Watch
Whether BTC's Friday rescue repeats or was a one-off, single-issuer event. Whether ETH's outflow week is the start of a reversal or just a pause. Cumulative monthly totals versus the noisier daily and weekly swings.
The Honest Caveat
A single day's inflow driving an entire week's result, as with FBTC's Friday number, says more about concentrated timing than broad conviction. One outflow week for ETH doesn't undo a month of gains, just like one rescued week for BTC doesn't confirm a trend reversal. Flow data alone can't tell us whether this is rebalancing, short-term positioning, or a genuine change in sentiment.
Bottom Line
The divergence didn't resolve this week, it reversed direction, which is exactly why this remains worth tracking rather than concluding. Watch next Friday's print to see which side holds. DYOR. Not financial advice.
