SanDisk Corporation (SNDK) is trading around $1,790, sitting close to its recent record levels after one of the strongest rallies in the semiconductor and storage group. The stock closed at $1,791.82 on September 18, gaining 10.99% in a single session, while trading volume reached approximately 17.6 million shares, more than double the previous session's 8.48 million. That combination of price expansion and sharply higher volume is important because it shows that the latest move was not simply a low-volume drift higher.

The immediate question is no longer whether SNDK has momentum. It clearly does. The important question is whether the stock can convert this momentum into a sustainable breakout above its previous high, or whether such an explosive move will trigger profit-taking and a technical pullback.
The Bigger Picture
SanDisk's rally is being supported by a powerful combination of AI infrastructure demand, tight NAND supply, stronger pricing and rapidly expanding data-center exposure. The company's fiscal Q4 2026 data showed data-center revenue of approximately $2.98 billion, up 103% sequentially and 1,298% year over year. Data center represented about 38% of total bits in the quarter compared with 12% a year earlier.
The fundamental story therefore extends beyond traditional consumer storage. AI servers, data centers and high-performance storage are becoming increasingly important parts of SanDisk's revenue structure.
The company also reported FY2026 revenue of approximately $20.25 billion, up 175%, with GAAP net income of $11.43 billion. Its Q4 gross margin reached 84.6%, compared with 26.2% a year earlier.

These numbers explain why investors have been willing to assign a much higher valuation to the company.
Chart Pattern: What Is SNDK Saying?
The chart is showing a classic high-momentum breakout structure.
SNDK experienced a huge earlier advance, suffered a sharp correction, built another base and then accelerated higher again. The latest move through the $1,600 area followed by the jump toward $1,790 indicates that buyers have regained control of the short-term trend.
The most important technical feature now is the relationship between the old resistance around $1,600–$1,650 and the current price near $1,790.
If $1,600–$1,650 becomes support, the previous resistance can transform into the foundation for another leg higher.

If the stock immediately falls back below that region, however, the recent breakout could prove to be a momentum exhaustion move rather than a sustainable continuation.
The stock's previous all-time high was around $2,354, so the current price is still below that historical peak despite the extraordinary 2026 rally. A move toward that area would therefore represent another major technical test.

Key Support Levels
The first short-term support is approximately $1,750–$1,760. Holding this area would indicate that buyers are defending the latest breakout.
The next important zone is $1,680–$1,700. A controlled pullback toward this region could simply represent profit-taking after the huge one-day advance.
The major structural support is approximately $1,600–$1,650. If this zone holds during a correction, the broader breakout structure remains considerably stronger.
Below $1,600, the market would need to reassess the latest momentum leg, with approximately $1,500–$1,550 becoming another important demand zone.

Key Resistance and Upside Targets
At $1,790, the immediate psychological resistance is $1,800.
Above $1,800, the next targets are approximately $1,850, $1,900, $2,000, $2,125, $2,250 and the previous major high near $2,354.
From $1,790:
$1,850 represents approximately +3.4%
$1,900 represents approximately +6.1%
$2,000 represents approximately +11.7%
$2,125 represents approximately +18.7%
$2,250 represents approximately +25.7%
$2,354 represents approximately +31.5%
A move to $2,500 would represent approximately +39.7% from $1,790, but that should be treated as a higher-risk extension rather than a base expectation.
Analyst Forecasts and Market Expectations
Current analyst estimates show an unusually wide range, which itself tells us something about the uncertainty surrounding memory-cycle pricing.
S&P Global's survey of 24 analysts places the average target around $2,125, with a low target of $1,000 and a high target of $3,600. The average target is approximately 18.6% above the September 18 closing price.
Lynx Research has been cited with a $2,450 target, while Susquehanna has reportedly raised its target to $3,250 and Bernstein has carried a $3,000 target. These are analyst estimates, not guaranteed outcomes.
The important point is that the market is pricing a very strong continuation of the memory-cycle recovery. If NAND pricing remains tight, the upside thesis can continue. If pricing weakens sharply, the valuation can compress quickly.

Why AI Demand Matters
The biggest structural catalyst is the AI data-center buildout.
As AI systems require increasingly large amounts of storage and high-performance infrastructure, NAND demand can benefit from expanding data-center capacity. SanDisk's recent data-center revenue acceleration provides evidence that this is already affecting its business rather than being purely a future narrative.

The company has also reported substantial long-term customer commitments. Its remaining performance obligations were approximately $59.8 billion at July 3, 2026, with additional contracts signed after the balance-sheet date.
This provides an important visibility component, although investors still need to monitor how quickly those contracts translate into actual revenue and margins.

The Biggest Risk: Parabolic Momentum
The biggest danger at $1,790 is not necessarily weak fundamentals.
It is valuation and momentum risk.
A stock that can rise 10.99% in one session can also experience a very large pullback when traders lock in profits. The September 18 move was accompanied by approximately 17.6 million shares of volume, so there is significant evidence of participation, but high volume can occur during both accumulation and distribution.
Therefore, chasing the stock after a vertical candle carries substantially more risk than entering after a controlled retest.

Another risk is the memory cycle itself. SanDisk's earnings growth has been extraordinary, but semiconductor and memory businesses are cyclical. The market will eventually focus on whether NAND prices remain elevated, whether supply expands, and whether AI-related demand continues growing quickly enough to absorb that supply.

My Trading Plan
Bullish breakout plan: If SNDK holds above $1,750–$1,760 and breaks $1,800 with strong volume, the first targets are $1,850 and $1,900. A sustained move above $1,900 could open the path toward $2,000.
Continuation plan: If $2,000 becomes support after a breakout, the next major technical targets are approximately $2,125 and $2,250.
Retest plan: If the stock pulls back after the recent surge, I would watch $1,680–$1,700 first. A successful defense there could create another momentum entry structure.
Major support plan: The $1,600–$1,650 area is much more important for the medium-term structure. If buyers defend this region, the broader breakout remains technically constructive.

Risk-off scenario: A decisive break below $1,600, especially on heavy volume, would weaken the current breakout structure and increase the probability of a deeper correction toward $1,500–$1,550.
How High Can SanDisk Go?
The near-term technical path is relatively straightforward.
Above $1,800, the market can target $1,850 → $1,900 → $2,000.
Above $2,000, the next major reference becomes the analyst-average region around $2,125, followed by $2,250.

If AI-driven storage demand remains exceptionally strong and NAND pricing stays supportive, a retest of the previous high near $2,354 becomes technically possible.
A move through $2,354 would create a fresh price-discovery phase, where $2,500 and potentially higher levels could become extension targets. But the further price moves beyond the established high, the more important valuation and earnings confirmation become.
Final Outlook
SanDisk at $1,790 is sitting in a high-momentum but high-volatility zone.
The bullish case is supported by extraordinary FY2026 growth, rapidly expanding data-center exposure, strong margins, long-term customer commitments, AI infrastructure demand and a powerful recent price breakout. The latest 10.99% daily jump accompanied by approximately 17.6 million shares of volume confirms that market participation is substantial.
But the stock has already experienced an enormous repricing, meaning expectations are now extremely high. The market needs continued evidence that NAND pricing, AI storage demand and margins can remain strong.

For me, the key levels are simple:
$1,800 = immediate breakout test
$1,850–$1,900 = first upside expansion
$2,000 = major psychological target
$2,125 = current analyst-average reference
$2,250 = higher continuation zone
$2,354 = previous major high
$1,700 = first major pullback area
$1,600–$1,650 = key structural support
The most important signal now is not simply price. It is whether price, volume and fundamentals continue moving together.
If SNDK breaks $1,800 and holds it, momentum can continue toward $1,900 and $2,000. If it fails and falls back toward $1,700, that does not automatically invalidate the long-term story; it could simply be the market cooling after an explosive move.

At $1,790, SanDisk is no longer an ordinary semiconductor momentum trade. It is a direct test of whether the AI-driven NAND supply-demand cycle can continue supporting one of the market's most powerful rallies.
