Why Aren’t the Coins You Hold Going Up?

Bitcoin has taken off, but the tokens you hold are still lying flat, and the longer you hold them, the further they fall behind Bitcoin. This really isn’t your fault, but you need to look at it from a different perspective.

There are now more than 20,000 coins in the crypto market, with only a few thousand listed on trading platforms, and new coins appearing every day. Money is limited, and so is attention, so why should all coins rise together? The kind of market where you could buy with your eyes closed and every sector would rally together is gradually becoming a thing of the past.

Capital is now increasingly concentrating in leading projects. So the broader market rises, Bitcoin rises, and some leading altcoins rise, while a large number of tokens still go nowhere or even continue to underperform Bitcoin. That’s completely normal. I also have positions that have underperformed Bitcoin, but I’m not in a hurry. As long as the broader trend remains intact, rushing won’t help.

The market is moving from wild growth toward maturity, and liquidity is beginning to stratify. Within the same sector, not every coin can rise along with the rest, and weaker projects will continue to drift lower. In the future, it will already be quite good if two or three influential tokens survive in a given sector. Most tokens may ultimately be eliminated. The more comprehensive regulation becomes, the more apparent this concentrated elimination will be. $BTC $ETH

Indeed, this is no longer an era of across-the-board gains; we need to learn to accept a structurally driven market.

Once regulation arrives, shitcoins will be the first to die—recognize reality sooner.

Can two or three projects in the sector survive? I think it would be good if even one survives.

This market is increasingly resembling U.S. stocks: the top players take all, while the tail goes to zero.

Even the leaders can’t gain traction, so the laggards have even less of a chance. There’s only so much capital.

As long as the broader trend remains intact, holding the leader is better than making random moves.

Underperforming BTC is nothing to be ashamed of—most people do.

You used to be able to make money buying with your eyes closed; now you have to research the fundamentals.
