Arc's First Week Is Turning Into a Real Test of Which Tokens Actually Have Legs
Interest in the Arc ecosystem picked up fast after Circle's mainnet went live, but the token-level volatility since then has been genuinely sharp. On September 17, ARGUS dropped over 40 percent within a 12-hour window, LONG fell more than 70 percent, and COOL slid past 75 percent. That's the kind of move that separates people who got in early and got out in time from people who are now sitting on steep losses wondering if there's a second wave coming.
Worth flagging quickly, the ARC/USDT ticker showing up under "AI Rig Complex" in current market data is a separate, unrelated token that just happens to share the same letters. Circle hasn't launched its own public token tied to the Arc chain itself, so it's easy to accidentally conflate the two if you're scanning tickers quickly.
Back to the actual ecosystem tokens. This kind of pattern, a fast pump right after launch followed by an even faster unwind, is pretty standard for brand-new chains. The first wave of listings tends to ride pure novelty, thin order books let price move a lot on relatively small volume, and once early buyers start taking profits, there simply isn't enough depth on the other side to absorb the selling. What happened to ARGUS, LONG, and COOL fits that pattern closely.
The real question now is whether any of this settles into something with actual staying power, or whether the whole first wave just keeps bleeding until attention moves elsewhere entirely. A few things are worth watching for anyone deciding whether to buy this dip or wait it out. Trading volume holding up or fading is probably the clearest signal, a token that keeps decent turnover even after a sharp drop suggests some genuine ongoing interest, while one where both price and volume collapse together usually means the initial move was pure speculation with nothing left behind it. It's also worth checking whether any of these specific projects have real activity or community engagement beyond the initial listing hype, versus being opportunistic launches designed to capture attention during a new chain's early days with no actual development behind them.
For anyone thinking about buying into these levels because they've already dropped so much, it's worth remembering that a 70 or 75 percent drop doesn't automatically mean something is now cheap. In a thin, low-liquidity environment like a brand-new chain's first week, price can keep grinding lower well past what would look like an oversold level in a more established market. Waiting for signs that selling has genuinely exhausted itself, rather than buying purely because the percentage drop looks dramatic, tends to be the more disciplined approach here.
On the other side, if you're someone who caught part of this move early and is still holding, this is also a reasonable moment to reassess position sizing rather than assuming the next bounce will fully recover what's already been lost. New chain ecosystems eventually do separate into projects that build real usage and ones that fade once the initial curiosity wears off, but that separation usually takes weeks, not days, to become clear.
None of this is unusual for a chain that's barely a week old, but the scale of these specific moves is still a good reminder that "new ecosystem, new opportunity" enthusiasm needs to be balanced against how thin liquidity actually is in the earliest days.
Not financial advice. Always do your own research before making any trading or investment decision.
Here is the question for discussion: are you treating this pullback as a buying opportunity in any of these specific names, or are you staying on the sidelines until trading volume and price action show clearer signs of stabilizing?
