Zcash (ZEC) reached a new all-time high of $1,521 on the morning of September 18, 2026. Gaining 10.25% in the last 24 hours, the asset has shown an increase of over 2,900% year-to-date. This rise indicates growing interest in privacy-focused cryptocurrencies.
NU7 Governance Vote
The Zcash community overwhelmingly approved the NU7 scope, the network's next major upgrade. With approximately 2.4 million ZEC participating, the reduction of block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds received 99.9% support. Furthermore, 99.3% of participants voted for NU7 to be implemented as soon as possible. These decisions aim to increase the network's transaction speed and efficiency.
Grayscale Spot ETF Impact
Grayscale's Zcash spot ETF (ZCSH) reached an asset size of over $500 million within two weeks of its launch on August 25, 2026. Net investment inflows exceeded $70 million, notably facilitating institutional investors' access to Zcash.
Short Position Liquidations
The price increase led to significant losses in short positions. Approximately $22.6 million worth of short positions were liquidated in the last 24 hours. This indicates that the upward movement is being strengthened by a short squeeze effect.
Technical Outlook
On the daily chart, ZEC is testing the $1,522 resistance level. $1,878 and $2,041 stand out as the next resistance zones. On the downside, $1,200 and $1,064 can be monitored as support levels. While indicators point to overbought territory in the short term, fundamental factors such as institutional interest and network upgrades continue to support the rally.
Developments to Watch
In the coming days, the NU7 upgrade implementation schedule and additional investment inflows into the Grayscale ETF will be decisive for the ZEC price. Regulatory approaches towards privacy-focused assets and overall crypto market conditions are also important for the sustainability of the rally.
