Choosing a stablecoin isn't simply a question of which one is more popular.

When comparing USDT and USDC, four different criteria deserve attention.
Because a stablecoin is no longer just a place to park dollars — it is part of crypto's liquidity infrastructure.

Current data puts USDT at roughly $183.3 billion in market capitalization and USDC at approximately $73.7 billion. Together, they represent a major share of the stablecoin market.

I would look at four areas:

1. Liquidity: Where will you trade or transfer it?

2. Reserves and issuer: What is the structure behind the asset?

3. Blockchain: Will you use Ethereum, Tron, Solana or another network?

4. Purpose: Trading, transfers, DeFi or simply holding?

There is no need to reduce the question to “Which one is definitely better?”

The better question is:

“Which one fits my use case and risk framework?”

The same dollar-denominated asset can provide a very different experience depending on the chain and liquidity environment.

💬 What is the first thing you look at when choosing a stablecoin?

Risk Note: Stablecoins may lose their peg and carry issuer, liquidity and market risks.
