The newly launched Arc blockchain ecosystem has experienced heavy volatility in its early trading activity, with several platform and meme tokens recording steep declines on September 17, 2026. Data cited by BlockBeats showed that ARGUS fell more than 40% over 12 hours, while LONG dropped over 70%. Meme tokens also suffered, with COOL declining more than 75% and ARCAT falling over 64%.
The selling pressure came shortly after Arc’s public mainnet launch. Circle launched Arc on September 16 as an open Layer-1 blockchain designed around stablecoin payments, financial markets, tokenized assets and AI-related economic activity. More than 100 applications and institutional and ecosystem builders were involved at launch.
The sharp moves highlight the speculative nature of newly launched ecosystem tokens. Many of these assets have relatively small market capitalizations, limited liquidity and short trading histories, meaning relatively modest buying or selling activity can produce large percentage swings. BlockBeats reported that several tokens had trading volumes below $1 million and warned that early-stage speculation carries significant risks.
Reports also linked the sell-off to concerns surrounding an Arc ecosystem livestream and the promotion of competing meme coins, although those interpretations were attributed to community discussions rather than independently established facts.
Meanwhile, Arc itself continues to develop its broader ecosystem, with projects spanning payments, trading, DeFi, tokenized assets and infrastructure. $BTC
