The CLARITY Act just hit a major roadblock in the U.S. Senate.

The final vote came in at 49–50, well short of the 60 votes needed to move the bill forward with three Republicans joining Democrats against advancing it.

After months of negotiations, crypto market structure legislation is back in uncertainty.

For an industry waiting years for clearer rules in the U.S., this is a big setback.

The fight for regulatory clarity isn’t over, but today definitely didn’t go the way crypto wanted.

The Republican Party is split internally, with three members breaking ranks. At the end of the day, is this partisan maneuvering, or do they genuinely object to the provisions?

49-50, trailing by 11 votes—those numbers really sting. Three years of negotiations came to nothing; Washington’s script is impossible to predict.
