Bitcoin (BTC) volatility is driven by several key factors.

Limited Supply and Market Size: Bitcoin's market capitalization is still relatively small compared with traditional assets such as gold or global stocks. In addition, its total supply is capped at just 21 million BTC. Large buy and sell transactions by holders with dominant asset shares (whales) can significantly shift market prices.

Sensitivity to Sentiment and Speculation: Bitcoin's price is heavily influenced by public perception, media reports, rumors, and investor psychology (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt or FOMO). Since it has no physical intrinsic value, speculative expectations play a major role.

Regulatory Uncertainty: Government and global regulatory policies (such as ETF approvals, tax rules, or transaction bans in certain countries) often trigger sudden price surges or declines.

Absence of Central Intervention: Unlike fiat currencies, which are stabilized by central banks through monetary policy, Bitcoin operates in a decentralized manner without an internal price-stabilization mechanism.

Leveraged Trading: The use of high leverage by traders causes mass liquidations when prices move in the opposite direction, exacerbating price swings over short periods.

Regulatory policy is truly the sword of Damocles hanging over BTC; even after the ETF is approved, there will be another hurdle to clear.

The 21M cap is both a blessing and a curse: when liquidity is thin, whales can manipulate the market at will.
