Oil Breaks Above $100: Stock and Crypto Markets Have to Recalculate the Math

Brent and WTI rising above $100 is more like a sudden calculation for financial markets: If energy prices continue to rise, will global inflation heat up again? If inflation proves persistent, how much room will central banks still have to cut rates? And if interest rates remain high, can stocks and crypto assets continue to enjoy lofty valuations?
That is what truly deserves attention about oil breaking above $100.
Crude oil’s rise will first change inflation expectations. Markets typically trade future developments in advance rather than waiting to react after data is officially released. Therefore, even if current inflation data has not clearly worsened, bond yields and interest-rate expectations could shift ahead of time as soon as investors begin to believe energy prices will remain elevated.
For U.S. stocks, the energy sector could become a safe haven for capital, but technology and consumer sectors may not have it so easy. Rising corporate costs and pressure on household purchasing power will ultimately affect earnings expectations.
For Bitcoin and crypto assets, the impact of high oil prices is more complicated. On one hand, greater macro uncertainty could attract safe-haven capital; on the other hand, if markets consequently push back their expectations for rate cuts, tighter liquidity conditions could weigh on risk assets.
So what deserves the closest attention now is not whether “oil has broken above $100,” but “how much further it can go after reaching $100.”
If the move is driven merely by sentiment, the market may correct quickly; if supply and demand, geopolitical risks, and policy factors are driving it together, this oil rally could spread from commodity markets into the global asset-pricing system.#Gate广场中秋团圆局 + #布伦特和WTI站上100美元
