UK Eyes New Rules for Tokenised Gold

The UK’s FCA is exploring whether tokenised gold could be exempt from certain traditional fund regulations.

The move is part of a broader effort to bring real-world assets onto blockchain infrastructure, with the Treasury and Bank of England also involved in the wider tokenisation work.

No final rule has been approved yet, but the direction is notable: traditional assets are increasingly being considered for on-chain markets.

Tokenisation could become a major bridge between traditional finance and blockchain.

The bridge between traditional finance and on-chain finance is getting wider, but don’t rush to FOMO—wait until the final rules are in place, then decide. DYOR

The RWA narrative is about to accelerate again. The UK moved faster than expected this time, and the BoE and Treasury stepping in together shows they are serious.

The FCA’s move is pretty solid—gold can finally be brought on-chain without being constrained by traditional fund rules.
