Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is gaining investor attention after management outlined a potential $2 trillion total addressable market by 2030, driven by accelerating demand for AI computing. AMD’s estimate covers a broad range of products and markets, including data-center CPUs, AI accelerators, GPUs and related computing infrastructure.
The company expects the AI investment cycle to remain in its early stages, with inference workloads increasingly becoming a major driver of computing demand. As businesses deploy AI agents and more sophisticated applications, demand for high-performance processors could continue expanding.
AMD’s data-center business is also expected to more than double next year, while the company is preparing new GPU products to capture a larger share of the rapidly expanding AI accelerator market.
The $2 trillion figure represents AMD’s total addressable market, not a $2 trillion valuation or revenue target for AMD itself. This distinction is important for investors evaluating the company’s long-term potential.
Still, AMD’s expanding product portfolio and growing presence in AI infrastructure position it as one of Nvidia’s major challengers. Morningstar estimates AMD’s broader 2030 TAM at around $2 trillion and expects the company to benefit from sustained AI and data-center investment.
If AMD can successfully convert a meaningful portion of this market into revenue, the opportunity could support substantial long-term growth.$GT
