$64.7 billion in trading volume: RWA is shifting from a concept to real demand
If RWA was still a highly appealing narrative a few years ago, it is now proving itself through trading volume. CoinDesk data shows that RWA perpetual trading volume on centralized exchanges reached $602 billion in August 2026, setting a new all-time high. Gate was one of the biggest incremental players, with monthly trading volume of $64.7 billion, up 158% month-on-month. Its market share surged from 5.32% to 12.6%, ranking third globally.
More interestingly, Gate's market share of RWA perpetual open interest reached 49.6%, ranking first among global crypto exchanges. This shows that it has not only achieved trading volume, but that the sustainability of capital participation is also worth watching.
Why is RWA becoming increasingly popular? The reason is simple: Traditional assets have enormous market capitalization, while the crypto market offers a 7×24-hour, globalized, and on-chain trading infrastructure. Once the two are combined, a new trading market could emerge.
