#Web3SecurityGuide 🔐 Web3 Security Guide
Web3 gives users direct control over their assets, but that also means security mistakes can be irreversible. Here are the most important rules:
1. Never share your seed phrase or private key — not with support, friends, websites, or anyone claiming to help. Whoever has it can control your wallet.
2. Verify every website URL before connecting your wallet. Fake domains and phishing pages are common Web3 attack methods. Bookmark official websites instead of relying on random links or search ads.
3. Read every transaction before signing. Don't blindly approve transactions you don't understand.
4. Avoid unlimited token approvals when they aren't necessary. Excessive allowances can expose your wallet to malicious contracts.
5. Use separate wallets — keep a small hot wallet for everyday dApps and a more secure wallet for larger holdings.
6. Consider a hardware wallet for significant assets, and purchase it only through an official or authorized source.
7. Be careful with Telegram, Discord, X, and DMs. Fake support agents may create urgency and ask you to connect your wallet, sign something, or reveal sensitive information.
8. Keep wallet software, browsers, and devices updated and minimize unnecessary browser extensions. Malicious extensions can interfere with wallet activity.
9. For developers: use access controls, testing, independent reviews, security analysis tools, audits, and bug bounties. Smart-contract vulnerabilities can be extremely difficult to reverse after deployment.
10. If something feels urgent or too good to be true, stop. Take time to independently verify the request before signing anything.
Golden rule: Your seed phrase is never needed to receive funds, fix a wallet, verify an account, claim an airdrop, or get legitimate support.
