According to Jinse Finance, Bloomberg reported that 10 Democratic lawmakers are inclined to vote in favor of Bitcoin and the Crypto Clarity Act.
The Clarity Act requires 60 votes to pass and is currently seven votes short, meaning support must be secured from the Democratic camp. The latest news says that 10 Democratic lawmakers are inclined to vote in favor of Bitcoin and the Clarity Act. This is indeed good news. Although they are only inclined to support it and nothing has been finalized, it is still cause for hope.
So why would Democratic lawmakers support a Republican bill? This is because although lawmakers from the two U.S. parties traditionally support proposals from their own party and oppose those of the other party, this is not absolute. Otherwise, if the party in power suppressed the other side, how could the other side ever pass its own bills?
It should be understood that lawmakers are elected by voters. Although voters tend to support the party they favor, a proposal may benefit relevant voters who do not necessarily support a single party. To win support from more voters, lawmakers must side with the voters.
Tens of millions of voters in the United States hold or support cryptocurrencies. For Democratic lawmakers to win the support of these voters, they must take a position.
Lawmakers all have their own positions, which sometimes do not completely align with those of their own party. Generally, most proposals receive some supporting votes from lawmakers in the opposing camp.
On the other hand, before the 15th, both sides had been making moves behind the scenes. Bribes, compromises, and exchanges of interests are inevitable, so it is not surprising that Democratic lawmakers would defect.
So, could Republican lawmakers who originally supported the bill change sides?
It cannot be ruled out, but the possibility is relatively small.
For one thing, the Republican Party is currently under Trump's strong control, and no traitor will have a good ending. For another, so many voters are watching.
Therefore, if this news is true, the possibility of the bill passing is very high. The rebound over the past two days was probably also due to this news. $BTC
