RWA Perpetuals Are Becoming the New Battleground

In the past, when people talked about RWA, their first reaction was often “putting assets on-chain”; but the market is now entering its next phase—not only bringing real-world assets on-chain, but also giving them genuine tradability. CoinDesk data shows that CEX RWA perpetual trading volume reached $602 billion in August 2026, setting another all-time high. Gate recorded $64.7 billion in monthly trading volume, up 158% month-on-month, while its market share expanded from 5.32% to 12.6%, rising to third globally.
These figures show that RWA has begun shifting from a conceptual narrative toward actual trading demand. Stock-related assets in particular already have a massive global investor base. Once they enter Crypto’s native 24-hour trading system, they naturally offer greater liquidity and trading flexibility.
Gate’s growth is especially noteworthy. A 158% monthly increase in trading volume and more than doubling its market share indicate that the platform’s focus on asset coverage and derivatives use cases is gaining market traction. More importantly, this may only be the early stage of RWA trading expansion.
Of course, rising trading volume does not mean everyone makes money. Perpetual contracts still involve leverage, funding rate, and liquidation risks.
