Don't Just Look at the Top Three

Gate entering the global top three for RWA perpetuals is certainly worth applauding, but what is truly worth studying is the trend behind it. CoinDesk data shows that Gate's RWA perpetual trading volume reached $64.7 billion in August, surging 158% month-on-month, with its market share rising to 12.6%; during the same period, total RWA perpetual trading volume on centralized exchanges reached $602 billion.
This shows an interesting shift taking place: Crypto users are no longer satisfied with trading only cryptocurrencies, and traditional financial assets such as stocks are also beginning to enter the 24/7 crypto trading system.
For trading platforms, future competition may not simply be about “who has more coins,” but rather who can truly connect Crypto, stocks, RWAs, and derivatives. Gate's rapid share growth this time is a clear signal.
But investors should not be led astray by the words “global top three.” Perpetual contracts are still inherently high-risk derivatives, and the hotter the market gets, the more volatility may be amplified.
