That rebound shows a sharp month-over-month recovery in trading activity, but the 38% year-over-year decline highlights how much weaker crypto participation remains compared with last year. Robinhoodโ€™s official August data confirms the $17.5B figure and the 61% monthly increase.

The bigger takeaway: crypto activity can rebound quickly when market momentum returns, but sustained volume growth will depend on whether broader retail participation starts recovering.

The $17.5B rebound is pretty fast, but trading volume around this time last year was absolutely insane. This limited recovery now can at most be considered a recovery in sentiment.

61% month-on-month growth is indeed impressive, but being down 38% year-on-year still hurts, showing that retail investors havenโ€™t truly returned yet. Weโ€™ll have to see whether it can continue into Q4.
